Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Database Platforms Manager to lead and manage our Database Services team, delivering secure, reliable, and high-performing database platforms aligned with business needs and service levels.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end delivery and optimisation of enterprise database services, spanning on-premise and cloud environments, while driving innovation, governance, and operational excellence. The key accountabilities include:
- Database administration and operations
- Platform engineering and optimisation
- Data security and compliance
- Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery services

Core Duties:
- Lead and mentor the Database Services team, fostering a high-performance and customer-focused culture
- Contribute to DDC Hosting & Network leadership strategies, policies, and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance systems, processes, and efficiency
- Develop succession plans and maximise team capability and ROI
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of database services, including:
- Enterprise DBA and operations (primary focus)
- Platform engineering and optimisation (on-prem & cloud)
- Data integrity, security, and compliance
- Backup, recovery, and business continuity
- Ensure database availability, performance, and reliability across enterprise platforms
- Manage monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning
- Maintain service levels aligned with business KPIs
- Support database architecture, design, and lifecycle management
- Contribute to organisational data and database governance frameworks
- Enable cloud and hybrid database capabilities, including migrations and integrations
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and external vendors
- Lead licensing, vendor management, and cost optimisation activities
- Support project delivery through database expertise and resource allocation
About YOU
- Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive IT experience (as Database administrator), including managing teams in complex environments
- Strong background in database platforms and large-scale application environments
- Demonstrated leadership in delivering enterprise database services
- Proven leadership capability across multi-site or distributed teams
- Strong strategic thinking with ability to drive operational improvements and change
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience managing OPEX/CAPEX budgets
- Strong knowledge of project management frameworks and governance
- Ability to balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes under pressure
- Influential negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Baseline clearance is required as a minimum
- Eligibility to comply with International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
