Cyber Security Operations Analyst

Job Location: The role is onsite based in either Adelaide or Melbourne. This position offers a 9 day fortnight flexible working option.

Role Description:

Reporting to the JORN Cyber Manager, you will contribute to ensuring the organisation’s strong cyber security posture is maintained through a number of proactive and reactive programs of work. You will work with other cyber security streams and other business units to ensure cyber security operational requirements are being met to deliver strong capabilities to the organisation.

You will have an intermediate level of understanding around how operating systems and networks work, how threats actors breach these systems, and what controls can be put in place to minimise the likelihood of such incidents. You will identify cyber security gaps within our environment and undertake remediation activities to resolve such gaps.

Core Duties:

  • Participate in incident response, continuous monitoring and vulnerability management, and act as a cyber-security technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects
  • Review, build, maintain, and mature cyber security capabilities to ensure the company is protected against existing and developing threats
  • Participate in internal/ external cyber security forums and exercises
  • Mentor and develop cyber security interns

Essential Skills:

  • A degree in ICT/ Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Professional Cyber Security certifications such as those from Offensive Security or SANS an advantage
  • Experience working in cyber security operations, incident response and/ or digital forensics
  • Good understanding of hacker tools, techniques and procedures
  • Good understanding and experience with cyber security technologies such as AV, EDR, SIEM, Email and Web proxies, and Vulnerability Scanners
  • Experience in IT fundamentals such as systems administration and networking
  • Basic understanding of Information security manual (ISM) and other global Industry security standards (NIST, ISO, PCI DSS, etc.) relating to ICT Security
  • Basic understanding of programming/ scripting in languages such as Bash/ Python/ PowerShell
  • Basic understanding of cyber security orchestration/ automation
  • Broad stakeholder communication skills (cross-functional), good customer focus able to utilise negotiation skills and manage potential conflicts
  • Good technical writing and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated analysis skills, critical thinking and problem solving
  • Defence security clearance NV1 and eligibility to obtain NV2
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations

JORN, HF and CANADA

The High Frequency Sensing team is part of the BAE Systems Defence Delivery Business Unit and delivers advanced Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) capability across the full lifecycle, spanning acquisition, sustainment and research and development – with all design wholly undertaken within Australia. It brings together expertise in large and medium scale wide area surveillance systems to support sovereign capability and operational readiness for Australian and international export customers. It is an exciting time to join the team with major upgrades occurring for Australian and US customer systems, evolving sustainment focus to ensure capability readiness for the Australian Defence Force customer, and mobilisation of a major export acquisition program to Canada, as well as future growth opportunities constantly on the go. Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and Arctic Over The Horizon Radar

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.

As the Australian Government’s Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) industry partner for JORN, BAE Systems is looking to mobilise an exceptional team to support a ground-breaking Defence export opportunity for the nation.
