Job Description

Job Title: Contracts Management Specialist (Edgewing)

Location: Reading area. The role could be contracted to any BAE Systems site (preferably Frimley) but on commencement will immediately be assigned to our Edgewing JV in the Reading area. A financial support package may be available to enable this assignment if required, dependent on certain criteria being met. Due to the nature of this assignment, we envisage there will be a need for mostly on site working, however, flexible working arrangements may be possible – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Salary: £53,211+ Dependent of skills and experience

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the implementation of contract updates by reviewing and updating contract clauses and all associated documentation for amendments, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards. This includes proactively identifying potential risks and providing solutions to mitigate contractual issues
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in contract management by identifying opportunities to enhance existing contracts, streamline processes, and introduce best practices under the guidance of Contract Managers. Actively contribute to the development of contract strategies that support business growth and operational efficiency
  • Have responsibility for the delivery and governance of JV contracts, managing the full lifecycle of agreements to ensure compliance, accountability, and operational excellence. Monitor contractual obligations, performance milestones, and key deliverables to safeguard organisational interests and maintain good client relationships
  • Develop and align complex solutions independently, designing contract amendments and negotiation strategies that meet customer requirements, internal objectives, and regulatory obligations. Provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual options, implications, and risk management
  • Facilitate consensus and secure agreement on contractual issues and amendments, collaborating with internal teams, customer, and partners to ensure alignment and compliance. Build solid professional relationships and act as a trusted advisor in all contract-related matters, ensuring transparency and accountability

Your skills and experiences

Essential:

  • Understanding of contract terms & conditions
  • Previous experience in commercial or contract management roles in international, complex or large scale programmes
  • Experience of executing negotiation plans and drafting and agreeing contract terms & pricing
  • Understanding of profitability, revenue recognition and budget control in contracts
  • Ability to assess and mitigate contract-related risks and manage opportunities

Desirable:

  • Degree level qualification in a law or business-related subject, or equivalent commercial experience
  • Previous experience in contract management including contract changes
  • Previous experience in defence contracts management
  • Previous experience in dispute resolution and conflict management

The Edgewing team

You will be joining a highly motivated, experienced team within the BAE Systems Air sector, committed to the delivery and progression of a Future Combat Air System (FCAS) for the UK. You will play a central role in working across a diverse stakeholder group of functional and delivery teams including tri national industry and government colleagues from across our partner nations to support the delivery of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
