Job Title: Business Change Lead

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base – 4 days on site a week minimum

Salary: Up to £50,000 (depending on skills and experience)

Role Description:

The Business Change Lead supports delivery of low to medium complexity business change initiatives, working closely with a Project Manager to ensure successful outcomes for agreed stakeholders. The role leads and manages defined change activities within a specific business area, supports P3 integration, and helps ensure project and change management processes are aligned, coordinated, and effective. It also provides analysis and insight to support Business Change and P3 leadership in decision‑making and direction changes.

Core Duties:

  • Leading the delivery of key change projects across the Warship Support delivery stream
  • Generating and maintaining key business performance metrics
  • Able to perform advanced project reporting & scheduling
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of Business process and procedures
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of change management, business transformation and/or project delivery
  • Able to manage the Project Control processes on a full project lifecycle to ensure that, over time, the needs of customers/users continue to be met and that financial and other benefits are achieved
  • Identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project. Apply appropriate Project Control methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches
  • Agrees Project Control approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate
  • Able to lead a small team and deliver project outcomes with minimal guidance from the Line Manager

Essential skills:

  • You’ll hold a degree level education, or a comparable level of practical knowledge and experience, including demonstrable project management experience
  • You’ll hold a recognised professional qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Quality or Manufacturing Operations (such as the APM Project Management Qualification or equivalent)
  • You’ll have broad experience in business change and implementation of change initiatives, demonstrated in a professional role within a business or project
  • You’ll have experience in the operation of the SAP ERP Toolset, including data extraction, collation and interrogation
  • You’ll have experience of building relationships and negotiating outcomes with internal stakeholders for low to medium complex projects

The Continuous Improvement (CI)Team:

The Continuous Improvement Team drives efficiency and effectiveness across Warship Support, ensuring fleet readiness through impactful change initiatives. You will support the team with proven project management expertise, providing advice and oversight while leading cross‑functional projects. This role offers exposure to senior leadership, involvement in strategic delivery, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in national defence.
