Job Description

The post
holder will report to the Avionics Junior Supervisor and be an experienced and
skilled avionic technician and supervisor, undertaking a range of detailed
maintenance activities on aircraft or on aircraft components.

The post
holder requires an excellent understanding of the Typhoon approved data set and
is competent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions in
accordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.

Demonstrates a distinct ability to analyse and diagnose faults to
equipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively
within a team. Provide guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse
and dynamic operational environment.

Core Activity:

  • Undertaking detailed
    maintenance, inspection activities on the air electric bay components. Assuring
    work undertaken is completed in accordance with the work package, using the
    relevant approved technical information. Resolving faults and maintenance issues,
    including an awareness of configuration management
  • Undertaking and complete
    tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on electric components, which
    may include, as appropriate, component removals, inspections, repairs,
    modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and / or functional / system
    test
  • Demonstrate a flexible
    and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role
    and takes direction appropriately
  • Maintaining a personal
    task authorisation for working on components in accordance with QAF
    requirements
  • Progress reporting
    against delivery targets to supervisor
  • Undertaking support tasks
    within the Air Electric Bay facility which are required to maintain compliance
    with the MOE and QAF procedures (e.g. oversight checks, control of tooling /
    test equipment)
  • Undertaking fault
    evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘found faults’ during maintenance
  • Ensuring all Maintenance
    activities are appropriately documented and airworthiness records are
    maintained on relevant systems (IT / paper based). Compile required reporting,
    identify any issues and escalate as appropriate
  • Maintaining a personal
    Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, on completion of On the Job
    training (OJT) activities, sign other personnel’s logbooks as appropriate
    within your trade and skills boundaries. If you are an approved designated assessor,
    undertake authorisation and task competency approvals, and check Pt 145 license
    application packs prior to submission


Key Accountabilities:

  • Performance
    indicators
    – Leading by example to provide effective
    maintenance activities by meeting delivery targets, monitoring progress and
    reporting any impact on continuing airworthiness. Identify any issues and
    escalate as appropriate. Understand how the teams and own actions contribute to
    overall delivery performance and safety
  • Procedure/standards
    Comply with the regulatory framework, its associated procedures and standards,
    and any other company procedures and standards. Identify and propose change as required as applicable
  • Safety
    Management System
    – Ensure human factors and error management
    philosophies are applied to all maintenance activities. Understand the risks
    associated with maintenance activities and the means by which they are
    mitigated and managed
  • Continuing
    Airworthiness Assurance (Quality)
    – Ensure maintenance activities are
    compliant with the continuing airworthiness assurance management system, in
    conjunction with the MOE
  • Statutory/Regulatory
    & Legislative requirements
    – Able to demonstrate an appropriate
    level of understanding and application of the relevant continuing airworthiness
    regulatory framework. Support the implementation of any regulatory driven
    changes into the maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all other
    requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO
  • Contractual

Requirements

Essential:

  • Typhoon Avionic Trade ‘Q’ Course
  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in
    Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship /
    qualifications. Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City &
    Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent.
    Aircraft platform training (On a/c requirement)
  • Requires a broad and in-depth product knowledge/competency within
    own technical/subject area. Awareness of how the team integrates with others in
    order to achieve the overall objectives of the area and demonstrates an
    understanding of the requirement for continuous improvement and its application
  • Experienced and competent leader at this level. Requires a minimum of 2 years working at
    Supervisor level prior to undertaking a Senior role. Demonstrating breadth of
    experience, currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills, knowledge
    and authorities for working on Aircraft type or in bays. Practical experience
    and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe
    operating practices. A comprehensive knowledge of Expositions and Functionally
    Mandated Procedures Management training. PDR training / experience
  • Experienced and competent in Maintenix system (IMS) and
    Eurofighter support system (ESS)
  • IT Literate
