Role Description:

The Asset Performance Analyst is responsible for the conduct of Performance, Cost and Risk analysis tasks for the Guided Missile Destroyers (DDG) Materiel System (being the Asset of concern). This is an impactful position, where the Analyst will be able to contribute to and help influence decision-making behind the long-term optimisation of performance and cost outcomes for the Asset and related shore systems for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

Core Duties:

  • Conducting Ongoing Performance Monitoring (OPM) of the Asset and its system or subsystem elements.
  • Carrying out data processing and analysis activities (data cleansing, formatting or structuring, validation, statistical analysis, reporting).
  • Preparation of impactful and influential reports, and associated recommendations, to support business cases and decision making using the outputs from performance, cost, and risk analysis activities.
  • Supporting Lead personnel within the Asset Performance Group (APG) in providing accurate and quality information to help influence Asset Performance and Optimisation activities for key stakeholders, particularly the RAN.
  • When required, participate in the planning of analysis activities, assessment of analytical tools, development and management of analysis plans, processes and frameworks.
  • Defining and executing out ad-hoc, exploratory and proof of concept analysis outside of established analysis architecture and processes.

Position Requirements :

  • Experience with the compilation and analysis of technical data sourced from a technical environment, and providing conclusions and/or recommendations on such data (important),
  • Experience within a defence maintenance environment (desirable),
  • Experience within the ILS/IPS or Systems Engineering domain (desirable),
  • Working knowledge of engineering, maintenance and financial policies and procedures in defence (desirable).

Position Requirements :

  • A technical degree in the fields of either engineering, science, or maths, such as Mechanical or Systems Engineering, or Data Science.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in general analytical techniques, such as statistical and root cause analysis.
  • Highly motivated with a quality/continuous improvement mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel.
  • Good knowledge and experience of BI tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, or similar statistical software such as JMP. Alternatively, a proven ability to rapidly learn such software with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Must be able to obtain NV1.
  • General knowledge of the ILS/IPS or Systems Engineering domain (desirable).
