The mission for this role

Is to build, grow, maintain and iterate on an exceptional employee experience at Attest.

People are at the core of the business. Our Talent team is responsible for shepherding exceptional folks into the business, into the right roles at the right time. From there, we rely on our People team to ensure that once they’ve joined, deep care is applied to their onward journey; from onboarding to growth, development, performance management, success and progression, right through to their last day with Attest, our People team is responsible for creating an exceptional employee experience from beginning to end.

The mission for this role is to take the existing building blocks of how we approach all things employee experience, and improve, enhance, replace, and grow how we think about our People, their engagement, growth, development, performance and fulfilment, to make each journey ever better, and our approach to People ever more scalable as we continue to grow the business, and add more talent to the team, without losing the magic that makes being an Attester so special right now.

Your focus will be to…

Be Human first: Build warm, safe and inviting relationships across our teams and leads, and coach and develop members of your People team to be trusted confidantes to individual Attesters, from matters ranging from L&D and personal development, to seeking guidance on resources and support with how best to handle personal challenges impacting their working environment, and anything in between.

Culture: Own, develop and execute on our people strategy, optimising always for our ability to positively evolve our wonderful culture with the addition of new humans, perspectives and experiences as we grow. Critical to achieving this, will be to continue to enhance the sense of belonging people feel being at Attest, seeing and fixing gaps and concerns, and building on and leaning into things that are working well, while proactively and thoughtfully adding, too.

Performance and Engagement: Help all Attesters realise their greatest potential, ensure the systems, processes and tools are in place to enable each Attester to develop in their role, and build a world class employee experience internally, and enviable employer brand externally, all underpinned by folks who enjoy their work, are excited about their careers at Attest, and are performing at their very best, in an environment they enjoy.

Employee reward: As we continue to mature as a business, we want to keep iterating on the rewards and benefits we offer Attesters, to attract and retain great talent. You will be responsible for designing a consistent approach to rewards, while also keeping control of our business efficiency metrics as you strike the right balance between recognising and rewarding folks properly in line with market expectations, while also working to our financial model and budgets and the constraints that poses. You will help us understand the trade-offs, and be the guardian of the People budget.

Scaling our management and leadership: As we grow, the number of folks promoted to managers, leads, and leadership positions also increases as people grow their careers with us, many of whom may not have managed before. With that, we need the VP of People to put in place the right onboarding, training, tools and ongoing support for our managers and leaders to ensure we are developing those managers and their non-domain specific management capabilities actively, such that the employee experience for their line reports is consistent and positive across the organisation by design, rather than by chance.

We’d love to hear from you if…

  • You identify with our values
  • You have a foundational grounding in HR and People matters (ideally by way of a formal qualification in HR, e.g. CIPD, Masters in Human Resources, or similar).
  • You have a track record of leading a People function in a fast-growth scale-up environment through a journey similar to the stage we’re in now, to where we’re headed ideally across teams in both the UK and US. It isn't necessary that you held the overall leadership role in the organisation or People for this to be true - we know someone who has been the number two to the CPO/VP of People or a People Lead of a particular area of the business (e.g. Commercial or Tech) if it was larger than we are today will have been exposed to ownership of many of the things we're seeking for this role too, and we'd love to hear from you if that is you.
  • You have lead or been deeply involved in creation and execution of the People & EVP strategy for a tech scaleup like us

The role and team are based in London and we do have an office in Shoreditch that we (as a central team) spend a fair bit of time together in. This role does have some in-office expectations because of how we operate as a team and business, and although we're really open to what those are and how we structure them to work for you, it's worth being upfront that the remainder of our central functions spend at least 2-3 days a week together in the office and we'd love for this senior role to be present with them as much as possible (although how much of the day you are in etc is again, something we're very flexible about already). We regret we're not open to fully remote applicants right now for the same reason.
