Job Description

Senior Copywriters at ASOS are the highly organised leadership figures, who have an eye for fashion, written content and seamless operations. As one of our Seniors, you will be working closely with Management & Leads and wider department senior teams. You will support department efficiency, whilst thinking commercially and innovatively to deliver the best e-commerce assets in the industry for our customer. You have the ability to successfully support a team with a creative, strategic and operational mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Possess the skill, knowledge and management ability to manage copywriter direct reports. Ensure our creative & delivery strategies are central to the ethos of the team. Consistently support the succession plan for your downline

  • Delivery at scale: Support Copy’s delivery across all BAU & projects. Working with the Senior Copy & Localisation Manager to ensure that every task is resourced appropriately

  • Performance and Efficiency: Ensure team performance KPIs/SLAs are met and constantly identify opportunities to improve quality and efficiency

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the Copy Team’s output is consistently best in class, whilst upholding the ASOS tone of voice guidelines. Responsible for writing and subbing customer facing PDP copy

  • Evolution & Innovation: Actively take part in evolving the copy delivery capabilities to ensure we are industry leaders and delivering on company & business objectives

  • Future facing: Work closely with the Post Production & Editorial Lead and Senior Copy & Localisation Manager to scope and implement the evolution of copy, looking at ways to automate and utilise relevant AI technology

  • Inspiration and Mentorship: Be recognised as an aspirational, innovative figure within your team and the wider department with a strong problem-solving mindset and reputation

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively across the department and wider business, whilst championing all aspects of ASOS Creative Studio in every interaction

What you’ll be doing…

  • Reporting directly into the Senior Copy & Localisation Manager, you will be responsible for contributing to the day-to-day running of the Copy team. This will primarily include copy output across the 200,000+ products on the product listing and product display pages, brand and category headers and the creation and development of copy templates and Ai prompts

  • Responsible for delivering PDP copy for both manual and Ai generated workflows, with the ability to produce and continually leverage GPT prompting for increased delivery efficiencies

  • Responsible for writing detailed product descriptions in a content management system across the full range of ASOS product in the manual workflow, ensuring information is accurate, informative and consistent across the site

  • Regularly contribute to creative work, including writing brand descriptions and category headers. Possess the ability to optimise copy for SEO

  • Oversee sub-editing of all creative and departmental content independently to an extremely high standard

  • Working in conjunction with the rest of the Studios teams to ensure all product and campaign launch dates are met

  • Responsible for senior admin tasks as well as ability to assist and support with management admin duties when required

  • Responsible for upskilling and training core team members, new starters and freelancers on writing product descriptions and other role related requirements

  • Guiding the team to follow established processes to deliver agreed creative and quality standards in line with departmental strategy

  • Proficient in team time management, effectively delegating tasks to other team members

  • Conducting regular 1-2-1’s with direct reports. Reviewing personal objectives, ensuring they are supported and guided, and their skill set is developed in line with the team succession plan

  • Contributing to team and departmental meetings

  • Developing and implementing your leadership style and communication in line with ASOS Behaviours policy

  • Contributing to departmental technology software and hardware launches when required

  • The ability to cover the Senior Copy & Localisation Manager when they are absent and delegate personal workload where required

  • Delivering projects to support the department strategy and any other ad hoc tasks defined by the Senior Copy & Localisation Manager and the Post Production & Editorial Lead

Qualifications

  • Proven exemplary E-commerce copy writing experience

  • Experience working within a content management system

  • Possess a basic level understanding of Ai prompting

  • Possess a basic working knowledge of Excel

  • Possess an excellent editorial understanding and visual awareness

  • Possess the ability to work quickly and efficiently with a strong eye for detail and catching errors

  • Exceptional multitasking ability with outstanding organisational skills; able to use initiative and to work in pressurised environment, consistently prioritising workload

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and positive, dynamic response to change

  • Excellent communication skills
