Job Description

APM Terminals

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving, observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

What We Can Offer
At APMT Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

In addition, you will experience:

  • Opportunities to innovate and contribute ideas that enhance operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • A workplace that respects work–life balance while maintaining predictable shift patterns and clear expectations.
  • Ongoing technical and professional development, supported by structured learning pathways and global knowledge sharing networks.
  • A culture where your safety, wellbeing, and long-term growth are integral to how we operate.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will coordinate the safe, timely, and effective response to equipment breakdowns across the terminal, ensuring seamless communication between Operations and Maintenance. Your responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the primary contact for reporting terminal equipment faults and providing first line remote troubleshooting support.
  • Dispatching breakdown teams, prioritizing calls based on safety risks and operational impact.
  • Ensuring clear handover between Operations and Maintenance, including accurate recording of all breakdown events in the CMMS.
  • Monitoring and improving breakdown KPIs such as MTTR, response time, and overall equipment downtime.
  • Supporting compliance with HSSE requirements by promoting safe working practices and participating in incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Contributing to asset reliability improvements by supporting failure analysis and sharing lessons learned across maintenance teams.
  • Coordinating resources efficiently, supporting cost control efforts, and communicating proactively with internal stakeholders.

What We Are Looking For

Continuous improvement mindset

We are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day.

Additional requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering or A Higher National Diploma (HND) in the same fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of port equipment or heavy industrial machinery, with at least 2 years in breakdown response or emergency diagnostics.
  • Strong hands-on capability in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems, including experience interpreting schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting (with RTG and MHC experience preferred), condition monitoring principles, and equipment performance KPIs.
  • Experience using a CMMS to document breakdowns, track performance, and coordinate maintenance workflows.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams, communicate clearly under pressure, and maintain structured, safe, and efficient work practices.
