About the Role
The Electrician plays an essential role in ensuring safe, reliable and efficient electrical operations across APM Terminals Liberia’s facilities. This position focuses on maintaining, repairing and installing electrical systems and equipment that support our staff accommodations, port infrastructure and operational assets. The Electrician will work hands‑on with power generation equipment, lighting systems, communication wiring, cranes, pumps, transformers and distribution panels—helping secure a safe and dependable electrical environment for everyone at the terminal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain electrical conduit, wiring, control panels and distribution systems across terminal facilities
  • Assemble, bend, cut and thread electrical conduit and pull power cables through conduit systems
  • Perform wire splicing, insulation removal, soldering and installation of terminal caps or connectors
  • Install lighting fixtures, receptacles, switches, relays, breakers and grounding systems
  • Carry out routine testing, including continuity checks, safety verification and compatibility assessments using instruments such as ohmmeters and oscilloscopes
  • Monitor performance of electrical systems to identify potential hazards, required adjustments or replacement needs
  • Respond immediately to power failures and help restore electricity with minimal disruption to operations or accommodations
  • Troubleshoot and repair internal and external lighting, distribution boards, reefer platform sockets, pump stations, transformers, switchgear, STP systems and generator equipment
  • Handle emergency power‑plant breakdowns and safely correct faulty wiring
  • Troubleshoot and repair quay crane high‑tension cables and electrical controls on motors and fuel dispensers
  • Supervise electrical service providers and contractors to ensure safe and high‑quality execution of work
  • Maintain accurate records of spare parts used, tasks completed and any equipment serviced
  • Ensure housekeeping, workplace tidiness, and compliance with all safety rules and procedures
  • Submit timely and clear reports to the Facility Supervisor

Qualifications & Skills

  • Secondary school certificate plus two years of vocational or industrial electrical training
  • Minimum five years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment
  • Completed apprenticeship in electrical wiring or related applications
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction, installation and power‑system applications
  • Experience troubleshooting a wide range of electrical systems—including medium to high voltage
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and electrical diagrams
  • Understanding of related trades to support coordinated work (carpentry, plumbing, etc.)
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently and maintain high‑quality workmanship
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling and proper disposal
  • Supervisory experience in an industrial setting is an advantage
  • Commitment to safe working procedures and strong attention to detail
