About the Role

The ATR organization is responsible for the end-to-end accounting processes at APM Terminals. The Accounting Manager has end-to-end responsibility of daily accounting, book close and reporting. As an integrated member of the Terminal execution team the Accounting Manager works closely with the Terminal Head of Finance (HoF) and engages with the STP and OTC domain process leaders when needed to ensure a cross functionally work and well-maintained books of accounts.

Activities

  • Act as a right hand for Terminal HoF, supports strategies, adds value, and maintains close and strong relationship with Terminal HoF.

  • Improve short- and long-term performance through relevant, accurate and timely reporting; analysis, decision support and participation through business partnering, efficient operational and transactional processes and close relationship with Terminal Finance Business Partner

  • Continuously review KPIs and monitor daily accounting and book-close activities.

  • Extensive review of all financial reporting to the Business Unit and explain major variances and one-off transactions.

  • Implement the standardization of ATR processes across entities/Terminal.

  • Work closely with the business to identify opportunities to improve processes and reducing waste from existing process landscape.

  • Represents the Terminal/entity in all forums with Terminal HoFs and Regional HoF as relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly book close and reporting.

  • Review and submission of Balance Sheet reconciliation on a timely manner and follow balance sheet recon framework in blackline tool.

  • Drive closure of long pending open items and identify potential financial exposure.

  • Certification in Onestream, financial and non-financial reporting.

  • Responsible for ROFO and Target reporting and reviewing the variances.

  • Lead and support Statutory reporting for entity location.

  • Support Terminal entity locations in the handover processes connected to the ATR finance area.

  • Support and lead the ATR Accountants to ensure quality in accounting delivery.

  • Ensure Process Compliance by performing regular Gemba and process confirmations. Identify process gaps and support to bridge the deviations as per standard.

  • Implement standardization of ATR processes for the Terminal/entity responsible.

  • Ensure that any exceptions to the standard processes are well documented and signed off.

  • Track operational metrics/ATR KPIs that measure the success of the ATR process outcomes.

  • Develop clear action plans and closely work with ATR Process Lead to improve the performance of operational metrics.

  • Ensuring effective internal finance controls, baseline controls and governance is in place for day-to-day accounting carried out by the team.

  • Working cross-functionally with stakeholders both based in GSC, locally and globally to maintain and improve internal controls.

  • Well versed and good understanding of group accounting policies, guidelines, and control framework to maintain integrity of financials reported

  • Support implementation of changes to process or systems by testing and ensuring smooth implementation.

  • Take an active role as Key User and participate in community/network to where eg. questions about process and systems improvements are discussed.

  • Lead or participate in Kaizens to ensure that performance is improved or that process gaps are closed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum 9-10 years’ experience in ATR domain. Accounting Manager/FNA Manager/ ATR controller in ATR functional area of expertise, preferable experience of at least 3-4 years.

  • Strong people leadership skills, experience leading span of 3 to 4 team members

  • Coach and Develops people - coaching and mentoring to build organizational capability, talent and bench strength

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant and good understanding of IFRS

  • Expert domain knowledge of ATR processes and good understanding of subledgers (STP and OTC processes)

  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills

  • Experience in delivering results through others (both direct and indirect report)

  • Level-headed and effective at change management, capable of pushing back when appropriate and face resistance in a calm and respectful manner

  • Advanced English written and verbal communication.
