Job Description

Salary: Circa £33,000, depending on skills and experience
Location: Flexible across the Anglian Water region (East)
Contract Type: Full-time (flexibility for part-time), Permanent

At Anglian Water, our purpose is to bring environmental and social prosperity to the region we serve. We're proud to deliver safe, reliable water services for millions of customers while protecting the environment for future generations.

We're looking for a Storage Point Technician to support the inspection, operation and optimisation of our water storage assets, including reservoirs, water towers and other storage facilities. Using a combination of surveying techniques, innovative inspection technologies and remotely operated vehicle (ROV) equipment, you'll help ensure our assets continue to deliver safe, high-quality drinking water to customers across the region.

Working closely with operational teams, engineers, water quality specialists, contractors and key stakeholders, you'll contribute to a programme of internal and external inspections, water quality investigations and asset improvement initiatives that support the long-term performance of our water network.

What you'll be doing

  • Completing routine external inspections of reservoirs, water towers and other storage assets in line with the annual inspection programme.

  • Carrying out ROV internal inspections and supporting the collection of inspection and survey data.

  • Using innovative surveying and inspection equipment to gather data on water-retaining structures and asset condition.

  • Supporting water quality investigations and providing inspection data to operational and water quality teams.

  • Identifying defects, raising maintenance requirements and escalating issues through the appropriate channels.

  • Assisting operational teams with planned storage point outages and optimisation activities while minimising customer impact.

  • Ensuring all inspection records, risk assessments and site documentation are accurately completed and maintained.

  • Supporting safety audits, contractor management activities and compliance with health and safety procedures.

  • Contributing to optimisation projects and initiatives that improve asset performance, reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Working collaboratively with operational teams, engineers, contractors and delivery partners to deliver the storage point programme.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification (minimum requirement).

  • Good knowledge of operational activities and maintenance practices.

  • Understanding of water treatment and associated operational processes.

  • Strong IT skills and confidence using digital systems and inspection technologies.

  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills.

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to make informed decisions and resolve issues within your area of responsibility.

  • Customer-focused with a commitment to doing the right thing for customers and colleagues.

  • Commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.

  • Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours activities when required.

Desirable

  • Experience within the water industry, utilities or a similar operational environment.

  • Understanding of DWI regulations relating to materials and disinfection of potable water.

  • Experience of inspection, surveying, asset monitoring or ROV technology.

We invest in our people - as a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Personal private health care

  • Generous double match pension – contribute 7% and Anglian Water will contribute 14%, giving a total contribution of 21%

  • 24-hour Virtual GP service for you and your household

  • 25 days annual leave – rising with length of service and the ability to buy more

  • Life assurance (up to 8 x salary)

  • Personal accident cover (up to 5 x salary)

  • Excellent family friendly policies, such as 26 weeks full pay for maternity / adoption leave, as well as 4 weeks paid paternity / partner leave. Opportunity for shared parental pay

  • Bonus scheme

  • Flexible benefits and working culture to support your wellbeing and lifestyle.
