Base Location: Irvine, Ayrshire

At Alpheus, we deliver innovative water and wastewater solutions that make a real difference to our customers and the environment. We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee construction and refurbishment works at an operational wastewater treatment facility.

This is a dedicated, full-time site-based role during a major construction programme, providing day-to-day leadership of subcontractors and acting as the key point of contact between the client, project team and operational teams. You'll play a critical role in ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to ongoing site operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with strong site management capabilities and a proven track record of working within operational industrial, water or wastewater environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a dedicated presence on site during active construction works and lead day-to-day site activities.
  • Act as the principal on-site contact for construction matters, liaising closely with the client, Alpheus Project Manager, operations team and subcontractors.
  • Plan and coordinate subcontractor activities, site logistics, deliveries, lifting operations and access requirements.
  • Lead daily site briefings and coordination meetings, ensuring accurate records of work progress, constraints and actions are maintained.
  • Monitor project progress against programme milestones and identify practical solutions to mitigate potential delays.
  • Lead the day-to-day management of construction safety and ensure compliance with CDM 2015 requirements and company procedures.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements, ensuring agreed controls are effectively implemented.
  • Coordinate permits, site inductions, welfare arrangements, access control and task briefings.
  • Manage the interface between construction activities and live operational processes, including planned shutdowns, isolations and asset returns to service.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained through inspections, defect management, testing, commissioning support and handover activities.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including labour, plant, inspections, progress reporting and variation tracking.
  • Foster a positive safety culture aligned to our "Safer Every Day" approach and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience managing construction works within operational industrial, water or wastewater facilities.
  • Experience coordinating civil, mechanical and electrical subcontractors across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015, construction safety management, permit systems, RAMS and contractor management.
  • Experience managing the interface between construction activities and live operational environments.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, programmes and construction documentation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise activities and resolve site issues effectively.
  • Good IT and reporting skills with experience maintaining accurate site records and progress updates.
  • SMSTS qualification and a valid CSCS card appropriate to the role.

Desirable

  • Experience working with wastewater treatment assets and process plant.
  • Experience managing demolition, structural repairs, lifting operations or temporary works.
  • MEICA installation, testing or commissioning experience.

What's in it for you?

  • Personal private healthcare
  • 25 days annual leave, rising with service, plus Bank Holidays
  • Life Cover at 8x your salary
  • Personal Accident Cover up to 5x your salary
  • Competitive pension scheme with double-matched contributions up to 6%
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Flexible benefits package to support your wellbeing and lifestyle
  • Excellent career development opportunities within the wider Anglian Water Group
