Location: Huntingdon or Peterborough - Hybrid Working

Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you with hybrid working. Your base location will be in our Peterborough or Huntingdon office with the expectation of being in the office 2-3 days a week.

Be at the Forefront of Securing the East of England’s Water Future

By 2050, the East of England is expected to face a 38% shortfall in water supply — but you can be part of the solution. As we tackle this challenge head-on with bold, innovative solutions like desalination and advanced water recycling, we’re building a Programme Development team to lead the way.

We’re looking for a passionate and driven Senior Consents & Environment Manager to help shape and deliver some of Anglian Water’s most ambitious national infrastructure projects. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead the strategy and execution of environmental and consenting activities across a portfolio of complex, future-focused programmes. You’ll also guide and grow a talented team, bring clarity to complex regulatory landscapes, and build trusted relationships with key stakeholders.

If you're excited by the idea of shaping the future of sustainable water infrastructure while working on major, nationally significant projects — this is your chance to make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Environmental & Consenting Strategy
Take ownership of the environmental and consenting approach across major infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery through expert guidance on licensing, regulatory compliance, and the management of specialist consultancy contracts.

  • Drive Stakeholder Collaboration
Build and manage critical relationships with consenting bodies, statutory authorities, and contractors to secure project approvals and ensure high environmental and regulatory performance. Represent the project team in external meetings, lead key discussions, and ensure strong internal collaboration.

  • Mentor and Grow a High-Performing Team
Lead, develop, and inspire a small team of environmental and consents professionals, providing coaching and guidance to build expertise and support the long-term success of the programme.

  • Support Programme Delivery
Contribute to programme-wide reporting, procurement, and planning processes, ensuring the consents and environmental workstreams are fully integrated and continuously reviewed.

As a valued employee, you’ll be entitled to:

  • Full private healthcare with no excess

  • 26 days leave, rising with service + Bank Holidays, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religion

  • A flexible and friendly working culture

  • Competitive pension scheme – we double-match your contributions up to 6%

  • Life Assurance at eight times your salary

  • Personal Accident cover – up to 5x your salary

  • Bonus Scheme

  • Lots of great discounts

What You’ll Bring:

  • A degree in an environmental discipline (postgraduate qualification preferred) and Chartered status with a relevant professional body.

  • Proven experience leading Environmental Impact Assessments and navigating both TCPA and DCO planning processes, including projects requiring marine consents.

  • Significant background in environmental consultancy or infrastructure sectors, with hands-on involvement in major project delivery.

  • Strong project and people management skills, with a track record of developing and mentoring environmental or consenting professionals.

  • Confident stakeholder manager, able to represent Anglian Water at senior levels, influence outcomes, and build trusted relationships.

  • Innovative thinker with a collaborative mindset, strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering sustainable, strategic solutions.

Why Join Us?

This is your chance to play a leading role in shaping the future of water sustainability in the East of England. You’ll be at the heart of nationally significant projects, helping to tackle the region’s biggest environmental challenges with innovative, long-term solutions. At Anglian Water, we champion personal growth, value fresh ideas, and foster a collaborative culture where your expertise will be recognised and your impact will be real.

If you’re ready to lead, influence, and drive meaningful change — we’d love to hear from you.
