Who We Are

Integrated Maintenance, Repair and Development Services (IMRDS) is the team that maintains our water supply systems, handles emergencies like water bursts, and develops new ways to better serve our customers. Whether you're passionate about frontline operational work or playing a part in safeguarding one of the world’s finest drinking water systems, IMRDS offers dynamic opportunities for growth, development, and purpose-driven work.

What Will You Be Doing as a Restoration Technician?

As a Restoration Technician, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of water supply to over 6 million customers. You’ll be on the front line of planned and emergency response events—deploying innovative equipment and bespoke solutions to ensure the continued delivery of clean, safe drinking water.

Working as part of a regional team, you will be involved in maintaining restoration equipment, responding to supply interruptions, and supporting capital delivery programmes. This is a hands-on, technical role that will see you working across various sites, often in high-pressure scenarios, always putting our customers and water quality first.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively maintain and manage restoration equipment and HGVs to ensure readiness.
  • Deploy restoration plant and equipment to manage interruptions to water supply, both planned and reactive.
  • Support water quality testing during deployments to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Lead on-site restoration solutions and provide real-time updates to the Operational Management Centre.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party providers to ensure seamless response to service needs.
  • Contribute technical knowledge to planning and continuous improvement of restoration services.
  • Participate in out-of-hours standby rota to support 24/7 customer service.
  • Champion health & safety practices and contribute to a zero-accident culture.

What Attributes Are Required?

  • Experience with technical operations or restoration/deployment work, ideally in utilities or water services.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and confidence in high-pressure environments.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills such as HGV driving, emergency chlorination, and installing linestopping technology.
  • Commitment to customer service, operational excellence, and safety compliance.

A Little Bit About Your Skills, Experience, and Behaviours…

  • Hands-on experience in a technical or operational field.
  • Comfortable working with equipment, tools, and systems related to water restoration.
  • Able to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across regions.
  • Positive attitude, resilient mindset, and a genuine commitment to continuous learning.
  • Prepared to work flexibly and participate in out-of-hours and emergency response duties.
