Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week (5 week rolling shift pattern including, bank holiday, weekend and on-call working)
Base Location: On-site, Irvine, North Ayrshire

You’ll be part of a close-knit shift team, supporting each other and working collaboratively to maintain high operational standards.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Alpheus (part of the Anglian Water Group) as part of our Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) operational team in Irvine. You’ll be joining a supportive site team where collaboration, knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement are key.

Alpheus is a successful water and wastewater asset management company delivering operations and maintenance services across a wide portfolio of sites. This is a newly created role due to continued success and ongoing modernisation at this site, offering a great opportunity to develop your skills in a progressive environment.

As a multi skilled operator your role will involve carrying out proactive maintenance, fault finding and operation of assets and infrastructure on the WWTP, as well as operating the plant and completing basic laboratory testing. There will be a strong emphasis on fault finding, repairs and maintenance work around the site.

You’ll help promote a positive health and safety culture and work with colleagues to ensure a safe and supportive working environment for everyone.

You’ll be part of a close-knit shift team, supporting each other and working collaboratively to maintain high operational standards. You will also carry out routine plant operation duties including set-point review and adjustment, sampling, laboratory testing and other general duties. You will be a key contributor to the goals of excellence in site maintenance, cleanliness and operational efficiency.

You will pay particular attention to environmental permit requirements and revenue generating streams, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets are achieved and that your attention is on improving performance and efficiency. In particular, focusing on the compliance of the treated effluent discharge to the environment and the optimal performance of the Anaerobic Digester (AD) plant.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and have gained relevant electrical or mechanical or instrument qualifications (City and Guilds / (S)NVQ).

  • Experience of laboratory testing will be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

  • Experience of working to asset management plans, and you will be used to following set procedures in a controlled H&S environment.

  • Experience in a waste water operations and/or industrial processing plant would be advantageous, but is not essential.

  • You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and have a flexible attitude towards your work, including working shifts, weekends and an on call rotation.

  • You will be a team player who is able to adapt to change and challenge where required. With a pro-active and positive attitude.

  • You will be forward thinking with good analytical, IT and customer service skills.
