Job Description

Graduate People / HR

Location: Peterborough/Hybrid

Business Area: Capital Delivery

Start Date: September 2027

Salary: dependent on experience and skills

Start your career with purpose

People are at the heart of everything we do. Behind every project, every innovation and every drop of water delivered are talented people with the skills, ideas and ambition to make a difference.

As a Graduate People professional, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the breadth of HR and develop a career that makes a real contribution. You’ll work alongside experienced People professionals across Capital Delivery, gaining hands-on experience across recruitment, learning and development, HR Projects, people analytics, early careers and colleague initiatives.

This is a role where you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, bring your ideas and get involved – you’ll have the opportunity to contribute from day one. You’ll also work on real projects, bring your ideas and learn how the People function helps a complex organisation and its people perform at their best.

You’ll need:

A 2:2 degree or above in HR, Business, Psychology, People Management or a related subject

A genuine interest in developing a career in HR / People

Good communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with a wide range of people

A willingness to learn and try new things

The ability to organise your time, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

A practical, solutions-focused approach

Good attention to detail, particularly when working with people information and data

The confidence to ask questions, challenge constructively and share your ideas

We welcome applications from candidates outside the region who are willing and able to relocate or travel to Peterborough and the East Anglia Region.

Why this work matters

The water industry is facing significant challenges, from a changing climate and increasing demand to the need to protect the natural environment.

It’s an opportunity to develop a career in HR while contributing to work that has a lasting impact on communities, customers and the environment.

If you’re ready to start your career, learn from experienced professionals and build your future in a sector that really matters, we’d like to hear from you.
