Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Director - MRO to join our team based in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The MRO Senior Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the MRO departments ensuring the highest standards in the areas of safety, compliance, costs and quality as well as compliance with all company, FAA and governmental rules and regulations, including airworthiness. The position leads MRO across the N.A. Region to ensure strategy, alignment and optimization of capabilities and capacities for all Airbus Helicopters MRO shops within the N.A. Region.

Your Challenges:

MRO Operations: 25%

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of all MRO shops to ensure costs, quality, on time delivery and safety

  • Establish and ensure compliance with standard procedures for the purchase, overhaul, inspection and repair of aircraft, engines and components. Audit practices to ensure they work effectively.

  • Ensure that the department and staff are able to provide the personnel, facilities, equipment, and tooling required to meet operational goals and that this effort represents efficient utilization of the allocated workforce in meeting ongoing required maintenance.

  • Review and respond to Maintenance delays and system problems. Develop and implement changes to eliminate recurrence.

  • Ensure that all procedures within the scope of responsibility are current, are followed, and that a well-defined working relationship is established with QA to maintain the requirements of ISO 9001 and FAR 145, DCMA 8210.

Business and Commercial Office: 25%

  • Lead P&L, repair & overhaul investment project costs/schedule; assure that facilities are adequate for accomplishing Company Business Plan Goals & Objectives.

  • Analyze the market and establish a 5 years’ Operating Plan with periodic revisions to proceed on a regular basis to the adjustments of the PIC

  • Define the MRO commercial policy including the appropriate proposals and service levels

  • Propose MRO offers and contracts to customers

Leadership and Team Management: 25%

  • Direct MRO teams and interfaces to efficiently carry out all maintenance activities safely, on time and within budgetary requirements.

  • Identify the needs for and initiate the action to provide both management & technical training as needed to repair & overhaul staff.

  • Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.

  • Conduct periodic performance evaluations; make recommendations for salary increases (promotion, merit, and economic adjustment), transfers, hires, and disciplinary actions (terminations).

N.A. Region Responsibilities: 25%

  • Propose and implement a regional industrial and commercial strategy for MRO

  • Develop and implement repair/overhaul business initiatives for the growth potential of each of the activities for the Region NAM

  • Consolidate Region MRO forecasts and OP and build business plan to reach targeted OP in collaboration with MRO managers

  • Coordinate with Head of Sales Region for overall commercial strategy either directly related to MRO and indirectly when MRO strategy may have an effect on the other sales campaigns

Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • 10+ years of experience in related field (performing/leading/managing)

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience

  • Master degree, preferred

  • Experience in Maintenance Repair & Overhaul

  • Demonstrate and apply International business knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Helicopters Range, preferred

  • Ability to travel 20% Domestic and International

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite: 80%

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 15lbs/7kgs.

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 15lbs/7kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
