In order to support the future of resilient flight, Airbus Central Research & Technology is looking for a: Scientist on Quantum Navigation Technologies (d/f/m)

We at Airbus Central Research & Technology work on cutting-edge technologies for future airborne and spaceborne systems, providing novel functionalities whilst reducing the environmental footprint of Airbus products and services.

You will join the team of researchers actively driving advanced sensing for aeronautics and space systems in Munich (Ottobrunn), Germany.

You will make an impact on Airbus by cooperatively performing advanced research on advanced navigation technologies and applications for our flying platforms.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Analyze existing aerospace approaches and applications in terms of enhancing resilience to potential threats.
  • Define advanced concepts and architectures for upcoming quantum navigation systems in the aerospace domain (airplanes, helicopters).
  • Develop tailor-made solutions for quantum technology bricks, ranging from individual sensors to complete system integration.
  • Execute hands-on implementations and conceptual work with equal proficiency.
  • Collaborate within a team of researchers to drive advanced sensing for next-generation flying platforms.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • You hold a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics.
  • You have a strong background in quantum navigation systems and knowledge of state-of-the-art navigation systems.
  • You possess advanced technical knowledge in:

- Quantum sensors (including inertial and anomaly detection).

- Noise mitigation methods and algorithmic frameworks for position estimation.

  • You have hands-on experience in hardware implementations and related field tests.
  • You are highly self-motivated and enjoy working in a communicative and cooperative environment.
  • You are fluent in German and English.
