Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Region Crisis Management Coordinator (Contract) to join our Crisis Management department based in Herndon, VA.

The Crisis Management Coordinator supports the North America Regional Crisis Management Director who is responsible for maintaining the Crisis Management (CM) program for the North America Region. For that, they report operationally to the North America Regional Crisis Management Director.

The Crisis Management Coordinator collaborates closely with crisis management teams (CMTs) and business partners from all entities and affiliates in North America to ensure that crisis management team members are prepared to respond to various crises. They support the sharing of information with the regional partners, such as the Regional Crisis Management Team (CMT), Security, Facilities, etc. They also supports the deployment of the Prepared at Airbus program in the region.

The Crisis Management Coordinator liaises with the Regional Family Care Liaison Officer to assist with the implementation of the Family Care Program across designated operational sites.

The Washington, D.C. metro area is home to multiple Airbus offices: In our nation’s capital you will find the Airbus Experience Center, a collection of interactive, multimedia exhibitions highlighting the extensive role the company plays in the aviation, aerospace and defense industries in the U.S. and around the world. The D.C. area is also home to our regional corporate headquarters - located adjacent to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) - it makes flying in a breeze!

Your Challenges:

Support CM Governance (30%)

  • Maintain up-to-date information of CMTs in the region, including Site Crisis Management Officers (SCMOs), CMT members and the CM database;
  • Work closely with SCMOs to ensure compliance requirements are being met related to CMT manuals, CMT member training, drills, exercises, Local Crisis Center Checks, and CMT activations;
  • Understand the Airbus CM methods, procedures and supporting materials for a consistent assessment of crisis management compliance for all CMTs in North America during exercises, simulations and live activations, initiate After Action Reports;
  • Follow up on CM corrective actions assigned to CMTs;
  • Understand Crisis Management Risks in the ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) tool.

Regional Crisis Management Meetings, Trainings, Exercises, Activations (30%)

  • Propose and collect topics to be discussed and / or presented during crisis management meetings and workshops;
  • Assist and present information during crisis management meetings and workshops;
  • Assist with crisis management trainings; become an Airbus Internal Trainer;
  • Assist with post training, exercise and activation administrative tasks, such as developing after action/lessons learned reports;
  • Support, or participate, as needed, in crisis management exercises and activations as a CMT Specialist or observer.

Crisis Management Awareness and Communication (30%)

  • Support and communicate program expectations to CM team members and partners through development and delivery of presentations;
  • Propose and deliver Crisis Management awareness content such as Prepared @ Airbus to affiliates in the region;
  • Promote Crisis Management culture with respect to all Airbus employees;
  • Become proficient in the Airbus Emergency Mass Notification tool: provide training to new users, suggest ways to improve procedures and templates.

Evaluate current events and their potential impact to Airbus Affiliates (5%)

  • Assess crises and potential crises in the region using open source resources and/or Airbus internal tools;
  • Assess potential impact to Airbus and affiliates and trigger Airbus partner action as needed;
  • Work with customers, such as HR, Finance, IM, and Legal to address risk concerns.

Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Support the Family Care program regionally;
  • Support IM in cyber resilience;
  • Collaborate with Product Safety;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Boarding Pass:

  • Bachelor degree, required
  • Must be currently located in the DC Metro area
  • 2+ years of experience in Crisis Management, Emergency Management or Emergency Response, required
  • 2+ years of program management experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of Crisis/Emergency Management exercises, preferred
  • Knowledge of Business Continuity planning, preferred
  • Business Continuity (Certified Business Continuity Professional or Disaster Recovery Institute International Certification), preferred
  • Crisis Management Certification (AEM or CEM), preferred
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel is involved in this role

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 80% onsite
  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and in the shop.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.

Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need for visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.

Pay Range:

Pay range based on the required profile: $31.25 - $41.39/hour. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
