What you will be doing:

In this role, you will play a crucial part in our quality assurance mission, gaining the hands-on experience needed to launch your career in aerospace.

Right from the start of your apprenticeship, you'll gain hands-on experience by spending two days a week with our quality engineering teams at the Airbus facility in Filton (Bristol). For the remainder of the week, you'll attend Weston College (based at our site in Filton) to pursue an Engineering Manufacturing Technician Level 4 qualification.

From your second year onwards, your time at college will progressively decrease, allowing you to immerse yourself more fully in impactful projects and activities within the business.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll complete a variety of placements within quality engineering and related functions. You'll engage in crucial quality assurance activities such as:

  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigating the underlying reasons for problems to ensure they are solved permanently, rather than just addressing the symptoms;
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): Predicting potential risks or failures in designs or manufacturing processes to prevent them before they occur;
  • Big Data Analysis: Interpreting large sets of information to spot trends, improve performance, and make data-driven decisions;
  • Design Assurance: Validating that designs are developed correctly from the start to meet rigorous safety and regulatory standards;
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): A structured framework used to ensure quality is built into the product development process from concept to delivery.

You will develop an excellent understanding of how quality engineering contributes to the successful design and delivery of modern commercial airliners. You will gain experience of working as part of a large multi-disciplinary transnational team engaged in the forefront of aerospace engineering. You will learn how to put into practice the latest quality methods and make use of the most modern digitalisation tools.

OR

  • Five GCSEs at 4/C and above including Mathematics, English Language and Science

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
