About us:

A new and exciting role has arisen within the The Filton Plant Manufacturing Engineering team is at the heart of all our tasks, working with every function to turn design intent into production reality. We provide production support, develop new technologies for cost reduction and efficiency, and work on new product introductions.

As a Level 4 apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work with Operations, supplying technical insights and practical solutions to real life manufacturing challenges. Your apprenticeship will cover projects such as the A400M, A350 and other Research & Technology initiatives. We are a pioneering and innovative team of experienced engineers, covering a wide range of subjects from work preparation, jigs and tools, assembly technologies and research & development portfolio. This gives you a wide spectrum of opportunities across various wing-related subjects within the Manufacturing Engineering domain. If you enjoy a challenge without a predefined solution, taking full accountability for project delivery, and developing hands on skills as you go, all while being at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, then this could be the perfect role for you. What you will be doing:


During this apprenticeship, the activities you may undertake will include:

  • You will gain experience across the whole wing and sub assembly process along with gaining a good overview of the current manufacturing process along with developing future solutions;
  • The tasks will be varied and require you to use different skills (technical, project management, communication etc.) in order to complete them successfully;
  • You will initiate and support activities within the team along with working with Quality, Operations, finance and other functions;
  • Manufacturing Engineering is a crucial link with the design organisation and production, therefore you will need to build relationships with stakeholders from across multiple functions, taking differing views into consideration, soliciting different views always with the customer in mind;
  • We are a diverse and inclusive team and value different ways of thinking and working to get a technical solution.

Requirements:

In order to be eligible for this exciting apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • A level in Maths and Physics at C or above

OR

  • Level 3 engineering qualification (BTEC Level 3 Diploma/ Extended Diploma or T level) at Merit or above

AND

  • Five GCSEs at 4/C and above including Mathematics, English Language and Science

Successful candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills;
  • Desire to work in a technical team environment;
  • A strong interest in developing yourself;
  • Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems;
  • Able to make decisions based on evidence;
  • The desire to work in an open and trusting environment;
  • Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved;

Important Information:

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.

RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK: Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom for the full duration of the programme. For more information, please check the Government Website .

LEVY FUNDING: Successful candidates must be eligible for the levy funding.
