This position is part of our Sustainability Unit, which aims to empower businesses to build a sustainable future.
Task description
- Providing technical operational support to production on-site and at suppliers to ensure the highest quality standards for metallic materials
- Conducting and supervising material and process qualifications (M&P) for aerospace applications, incorporating sustainability criteria (e.g., Chrome-VI-free processes)
- Liaising between design departments to define technical requirements and selecting optimal material solutions
- Planning, managing, and evaluating complex test campaigns, including full documentation and the derivation of technical recommendations
- Creating necessary technical documentation and presenting work results to internal and external stakeholders
Required qualifications
The job requires knowledge and skills that are usually acquired through a relevant, completed degree with a standard period of study of up to 4 years in the area of metallurgical, materials, aerospace, or mechanical engineering, or comparable courses of study and related subject-specific additional qualifications or completed vocational training with a corresponding particularly extensive subject-specific additional qualification. The total required knowledge and experience may have been acquired in other ways
Skills and competences
- Proven knowledge and experience in the task areas mentioned above
- Relevant professional experience in the aerospace industry or a similarly regulated sector focusing on metallic materials
- In-depth knowledge of corrosion mechanisms as well as surface treatment processes (e.g., anodization, passivation, pickling, etc.)
- Sound knowledge of assembly processes, joining techniques, and heat treatment procedures for metals
- Proficiency in data analysis techniques and programming skills (e.g., Python, AppScript, or C++) for process automation
- Excellent communication skills, a proactive work ethic, and strong team orientation within an international environment
- Business fluent in German and English (C1 level)
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
Location
At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we support Airbus Helicopters in developing helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield
