In order to support our mission of providing secure, end-to-end satellite communications for global security, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a:

Senior Legal Counsel - Contracts (d/f/m)

As part of the Secure Connectivity division within Space Digital, you will join a team dedicated to providing critical military and civil satellite services to Governments, Ministries of Defence, and International Agencies.

In an increasingly complex international environment, you will act as a guardian of our legal interests, providing independent professional advice to secure and defend our most ambitious projects.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Risk Mitigation: Analyze, draft and negotiate complex transaction documents (Public procurement contracs, Teaming Agreements, Sales/Service Agreements) and propose legal mitigations to enable informed decision-making by stakeholders.
  • Bid Management & Support: Lead the legal appraisal of terms and conditions for national and international tenders (ESA, EU, German MoD) from the preparation phase through to final contract drafting.
  • Proactive Business Partnership: Defend the interests of the Secure Connectivity business in commercial and public procurement contracts mostly across both EU and German jurisdictions.
  • Lifecycle Legal Oversight: Identify and mitigate risks throughout the entire project lifecycle-from bidding to close-out-and manage the escalation of key legal issues in a timely manner.
  • Expert Advice & Dispute Resolution: Provide specialized legal expertise in Contract Law, IP, GDPR, and Antitrust while managing litigations and disputes to minimize impact on company operations.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • You have a University degree in Law (Second State Exam or equivalent international qualification).
  • You ideally have more than 10 years of experience within a multi-national company or law firm, with a deep focus on German pubic procurement Law (Defense contract would be a plus) and contract negotiation
  • You have experience working with institutional bodies (MoD, EU, ESA).
  • You have sharp business and financial acumen and a solid understanding of competition law principles.
  • You are a ble to travel occasionally
  • You are a resilient, autonomous, and customer-focused negotiator who remains open-minded and creative under pressure.
  • You are fluent in German and English and have excellent writing skills and can simplify complex legal matters for diverse stakeholders.
