In order to support Airframe Engineering, Airbus Operations is looking for a

Lead Engineer FEM Fuselage Primary Structure (d/f/m)


Join the "One Fuselage" domain as a FEM Primary Structure Lead Engineer within the Fuselage Structure Analysis team ! Be at the forefront of aircraft justification, certification, manufacturing & fleet support, driving the Finite Element Method (FEM) analyses and simulations for critical fuselage components across the entire aircraft lifecycle, from next-generation design and certification to manufacturing and global fleet support.

You will be instrumental in delivering critical stress engineering data, shaping our structural engineering capabilities, and driving our departmental strategy for innovation and efficiency within a broad network of key stakeholders, including other engineering centers as flight physics and cabin engineering. Your tasks and responsibilities

Perform FEM and other types of structural simulations and provide the associated FEM documentation for:

  • Detailed FEM model build, verification & validation
  • Global FEM modelling (for inner load distribution), verification and validation, loading based on Flight Physics inputs, pressure loads, thermal mapping and cabin loads
  • Linear and Non-linear FEM analyses
  • Meshless simulations, e.g. SIMSOLID simulations
  • Proof of concept for automation tools
  • Application of Artificial Intelligence for FEM activities

Act as a focal point representing all FEM activities of 1-5 people in a project:

  • Provide technical guidance and serve as a key technical contact, leveraging our expert network
  • Lead complex technical projects with autonomy, driving solutions
  • Plan and manage technical deliverables, communicate progress and status to the project lead
  • Support the development of technical skills and airworthiness delegations within the team

In essence, you plan, structure, and deliver technical outputs for your area in Time, Cost and Quality. You guide colleagues and provide technical expertise.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Master's degree / Diploma in Engineering or similar qualifications
  • Several years of experience in FEM and associated Process, Methods & Tools
  • Experience in aircraft engineering is a plus
  • Motivation to achieve a signature delegation (approver/authorizer)
  • Ability to work with many interfaces with different knowledge levels and cultural backgrounds adapting your communication accordingly
  • Experience in the technical lead of project members
  • Independent acting and decision making
  • Data-driven mindset and motivation to improve the way we work and interact with the world around us (e.g. using AI)
  • Capabilities to interpret the environmental context and influence decision-making within the company
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, German is appreciated
