Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer (d/f/m)

Join the Fuselage Structure Analysis team in Hamburg as a technical anchor in our newly integrated "One Fuselage" domain. As the Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) Engineer for Primary Structure , you will will have the chance of contributing to the structural integrity, driving the F&DT justification for critical fuselage components across the entire aircraft lifecycle-from next-generation design and certification to manufacturing and global fleet support.

You will grow into a technical expert, collaborating with a high-level network to integrate advanced simulations and structural health strategies. We are looking for a motivated, curious engineer driven by a "People First" spirit to help us create the future of aerospace excellence.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Structural Analysis : Analyze and Validate composite & hybrid structures for Fatigue and Damage Tolerance according to validated methods.
  • Airworthiness & Maintenance Criteria : Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capabilities guidelines.
  • Structural Testing : Participate in the planning and analysis of fatigue tests, helping to validate theoretical models with real-world data
  • Cross-Functional Certification : Collaborate with Design, Materials, and Stress teams to learn how F&DT requirements are integrated into the earliest design phases
  • Support Fleet In-Service Solutions : Provide stress analysis for the repair/acceptance of damaged structures
  • Manage Technical Project Deliverables : Define technical scopes, workload sizing, and lead times, ensuring high-quality inputs and the mitigation of technical risks/opportunities
  • Continuous Innovation & Method Improvement : Contribute to the evolution of internal analysis tools and structural health monitoring strategies.

In essence, you will support the delivery of technical outputs in Time, Cost, and Quality, guided by senior experts and technical leadears.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • You hold a Master's degree / Diploma in Engineering or similar qualifications
  • You bring first experience in Fatigue & Damage Tolerance and associated Process, Methods & Tools
  • You enjoy working with many interfaces with different knowledge levels and cultural backgrounds adapting your communication accordingly
  • You have a creative data-driven mindset and are motivated to improve the way we work and interact with the world around us (e.g. using AI)
  • You have the capabilities to interpret the environmental context and influence decision-making within the company
  • Experience in Hyperworks and Python would be a plus
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, German is appreciated
