Airbus is looking for a Group Manager Airbus Aerostructure to join the Bengaluru, India location.

Position Overview Lead PLM software engineering team within the Engineering IT Solutions Department. The role focuses on delivering and operating bespoke engineering applications for Airbus Aerostructures. Success requires disciplinary leadership, a background in modern software development, and the capability to do so.

The successful candidate will establish team goals by identifying, evaluating and understanding the business strategy & technical trends. He/She will accomplish the team results/performance by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, coaching and leading the team in the right direction.

Qualification & Experience

  • Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 8+ years in Software Development and IT Operations, including proven disciplinary leadership and team management.
  • Domain Knowledge: Professional background in the Aerospace industry is required. General understanding of Engineering IT processes is expected; highly specific PLM domain expertise is not mandatory.
  • Technical Stack: Architectural proficiency in modern software ecosystems, specifically TypeScript, React, and CI/CD pipelines deployed on AWS.
  • Methodologies: Advanced knowledge of Agile/SAFe frameworks and DevOps practices.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to Europe for up to 1 month p.a., if needed on short notice
  • Language & Soft Skills: Business-fluent English and strong communication skills for continuous collaboration with European partners. Proficiency in German is a plus.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop software engineering team. Execute staffing strategies via direct hiring and supplier management.
  • Operations & Delivery: Ensure high-availability IT service operations (SLA fulfillment) and on-time agile software delivery.
  • Technical Steer: Enforce software engineering standards and drive the transition toward modern cloud-based architectures.
  • Intercultural Orchestration: Act as the strategic and operational bridge between the Bengaluru hub and European partners, aligning local execution with global business objectives
  • Empower team members by delegating authority and encouraging individual responsibility for goals.
  • Cultivate a workplace environment that mirrors the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Administer operational logistics including work schedules, rotations, and leave management.
  • Ensure clear, transparent, and effective communication across the team.
  • Actively resolve escalations and maintain agreed-upon SLAs and KPIs.
  • Serve as an intercultural liaison to strengthen corporate relationships across global teams.
  • Coordinate with global partners and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  • Apply enterprise-wide perspectives to identify and address emerging business needs.
  • Regularly integrate lessons learned to drive multi-axial continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management and project boards to provide progress updates.
