Job Description:

A vacancy for a Flight Control and Flight Management Systems - Design & Certification Specialist has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space.

The successful applicant will join the FCS&FMS department.

In the context of the military aircraft new programmes, including Military and Combat aircraft and UAVs, the applicant will be in charge of carrying out flight controls and flight management design activities, system design and equipment definition and development tasks, equipment and system integration, equipment testing, qualification and verification & validation activities, and certification tasks, in particular the activities related ATA27, FCS, and ATA22 (&22/34), AFCS and FMS, in the frame of military Transport and Combat A/C, UAS and R&T projects.

Additionally, the applicant’s mission will be cover the complete life cycle of the products, supporting production and manufacturing, customer acceptance and services support as well.

Task and Responsibilities:

Your main activities will include:

  • Capturing overall systems requirements.
  • Defining technical systems requirements.
  • Elaborating systems architectures according to alternative solutions and functions criticality.
  • Allocating functions and requirements and performance and integrity level for the subsystems and equipment.
  • Systems, subsystems and equipment specifications preparation, including requirements validation, functions and system modelling.
  • Ensuring development process, supporting suppliers along all the development and manufacturing process.
  • Defining system integration requirements and interfaces, and installation and adjustment procedures.
  • Defining test requirements, supporting execution, and test analysis and reports preparation.
  • Elaborating relevant documentation for airworthiness processes and certification purposes.
  • Providing in service tasks and ensuring continued airworthiness.


Skills and Experience:

The candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • More than 10 years of previous related work experience.
  • Aeronautical engineering degree (or equivalent 5-year degree in system engineering).
  • Good knowledge of flight control system, autopilot, flight mechanics and avionics systems, as well as safety.
  • Control design, and Model based tools experience.
  • Knowledge of systems, software and complex electronic hardware development standards.
  • Knowledge of aerospace regulations (CS/FAR/STANAG, E/TSO) and standards (DO/ ED, ARP, ARINC, etc).
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good capacity of adaptation.
  • Proactivity to solve issues.
  • Communication skills.
  • Negotiation level of English.

Ability to understand and apply techniques of automatic control, including filtering and estimation, stability control and ability to use information/data from sensors in control/estimation algorithms. Ability to know and apply application data specific processing techniques and technologies related to Flight Control Systems and Flight Management. To identify the activities of the development life cycle that are necessary to develop a system/product and provide the level of confidence which is consistent with regulation and program requirements To define checkpoints and reviews with associated maturity expectation aligned with program phases and gates Ability to provide sufficient detailed data and information about system elements to enable the implementation consistent with architectural entities as defined in models and views of the system architecture and in accordance with the allocated requirements.
