Description of the job :
A position as a AAR Control System Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Getafe (Madrid). The successful applicant will join the TADYR2 team.

With a specific focus on leadership for operational management of multifunctional teams and suppliers, define, develop and integrate Control, Monitoring & Recording Sub-system / equipment / component / module matching the required safety, quality and performance levels according to Airbus systems engineering processes and the needs of our customers.

Ability to manage the development of Control, Monitoring & Recording Sub-system / equipment / component / module for Airbus, including Systems Architecture. Specify considering the following factors: Safety, Quality, Systems Performance, Cost, Environmental, Operational and Industrial Requirements. INPUTS: Top Level requirements and operational needs. Sub-system interfaces from Airbus and Systems Suppliers. OUTPUTS: Deliver safe systems which minimise operational costs and maximise performance and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.

Actuation and Control systems development for the Air Refueling Systems, including BOOM and Hose & Drogue (A330 MRTT and other development platforms). The ARBS development requires multidisciplinary competences, including mechanical engineering and control electronics engineering.
This position concentrates on the electronics flight control system engineering aspect, although complementary competences would be appreciated.

Task & accountabilities (1):

The scope of the activity and mission includes (but not limited to):

*Development of flight control computers functionality (SW). Control design and practical application to mechatronic systems, simulations, etc.
* Control electronics (digital, analogue) and power electronics. Knowledge of standard digital communication interfaces (A429, CAN, ETH, RS232...), video interfaces, computing architectures (including CPU, FPGA, GPU...)

* Desired knowledge on development of boom actuation and control systems
* Safety analysis process, from architecture validation to PSSA, equipment FMEA (functional FMEA when application SW/FW is developed internally in Airbus DS over a HW platform supplied by external partner) and system SSA
*Specification, monitoring of development of electronic flight control equipment by external suppliers (computers, sensors, etc.), integration and acceptance testing. Practical experience in supplier monitoring (spec, SoW, design reviews, qualification, supplier steering, etc.)
* Computer vision techniques and application to autonomous control systems, is a nice to have competence
* Data science, artificial intelligence and deep learning application to Smart/connected control systems development, is a nice to have competence

Along the product lifecyle: concept design, system/subsystem/equipment specification, detailed design follow up, A/C installation, supplier monitoring and technical product acquisition, testing, certification, etc.

Required skills (1) :
For accomplishing the described mission, the following profile and competences are required:

*Leadership skills, including Business focus, Team focus, integrity, proactive and autonomous, communication skills

* Electronic engineer, telecommunication engineer, aerospace engineer (or similar)
* Desired experience of 3+ years in development, A/C installation and certification of A/C avionics systems (electronic control systems for any on-board system, etc.)
* Control architectures for achieving demanding safety and availability levels (control and monitoring techniques, dissimilarity considerations, redundancy management, etc.). Network architectures (AFDX, 1553, CAN...)
* Control computer development: power and control electronics, common control physical and functional interfaces (discrete, analogue, sensors, digital buses: A429, CAN, 1553, AFDX, discrete/analogue, sensors...), equipment functional and environmental qualification, EMI/EMC, etc.)
* Mechatronics desirable (microelectronics, power control electronics, motors, actuators, mechanisms, sensors, control design, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.)
* Experience with system testing environment (specification/design, execution, exploitation of test means for system testing: control computer bench testing specification and exploitation, control / actuation system integration, environmental testing, test systems such as SEAS, LABVIEW/VERISTAND, AIDASS).
* Desirable experience with simulation and modelling tools (esp. Matlab Simulink and toolboxes): physical modelling, control modelling, automatic code generation for on-board control SW
* Desirable experience with control computer SW functionality design and specification process
* Desirable experience in airworthiness and certification, from a system, qualification, controllability , interaction with structure/loads/Handing Qualities, etc.

* Desirable knowledge of Airbus DS system development and certification directives, configuration control and tools, mechanical drawings and
wiring diagrams databases.
* Desirable RAMS on-hands experience from an equipment/system standpoint (system/equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, safety analysis,
methodologies, handbooks)
* Digital competences related with high amount of data processing.
* Experience in on board systems/equipment Production and In Service lifecycle phases and constraints is nice to have, to deploy Design To Manufacturing and Design To Service knowledge into system design and continuous improvement process

* Built-In-Test system techniques, Health Management systems to optimize maintainability is a nice to have competence
