JOB DESCRIPTION

Electrical Systems Engineer - Modeling & Control

Job Code: Electrical System Engineer - E2

As a specialist in Electrical Systems Modeling & Control, you will be at the forefront of designing and developing the next generation of aircraft electrical systems. Your primary focus will be on creating sophisticated models, designing advanced control algorithms, and validating system performance for future aerospace technologies, including hybrid-electric and sustainable aviation initiatives. Your work will be crucial in shaping the architecture and behavior of cutting-edge electrical systems from conceptual design through to verification and validation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control System Design: Design, develop, and implement advanced control strategies for power electronics, electric drives, battery management systems (BMS), and overall electrical network stability.
  • Advanced Modeling and Simulation: Develop high-fidelity, physics-based models of aircraft electrical power generation, distribution, and conversion systems using tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape.
  • System Analysis: Perform dynamic simulations and analyses (e.g., load flow, voltage stability, transient response) to predict system behavior, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with aerospace standards.
  • Verification & Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive verification and validation plans for electrical systems using Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments.
  • Innovation and Research: Conduct trade-off studies for novel electrical architectures and technologies. Initiate and lead optimization studies to propose innovative solutions that improve efficiency, weight, and reliability.
  • MBSE Integration: Contribute to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities by creating and maintaining system models that support the entire engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition to system integration.

Allied Activities:

  • Initiate optimization studies and propose innovative solutions.
  • Create collaboration topics to improve the process, methods and tools

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
