In order to support the development of high fidelity Aircraft Simulators , Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

DevOPs Engineer Simulation (d/f/m)

Our simulations are basically distributed realtime systems built by a set of common as well as simulator-specific software building blocks. For the development of the different simulation models and software, but also for the state-of-the-art operation of our own IT infrastructure, we are heavily relying on DevOps means and CI/CD principles.

To take our tools and pipelines to the next level, provide our developer community a modern development environment, and allow efficient integration in our distributed and multi-classification software development context, we are currently looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer. You will work in an international team of passionate DevOps Engineers, IT Infrastructure Engineers, and IT Administrators at our site in Manching, Germany.

You have the chance to directly shape the definition and evolution of our CI/CD infrastructure and its application into our different simulation projects. Being part of our DevOps and Infrastructure Team means that you fully buy into a "Service Ownership" culture. You empower, support, and consult our Software as well as lead, coach, and inspire other DevOps Engineers to take our products to the next level.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Specify, design, and develop DevOps solutions and tools for our IT-infrastructure, as well as various Software Development Environments
  • Setup and maintain Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) Pipelines
  • Consult and support our various software development teams to boost their development processes and operations to higher efficiency by applying CI/CD principles and means
  • Continuously revise and improve the capabilities and reliability of our department-owned as well as corporate-managed IT-infrastructure with a focus on DevOps Tooling

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 1+ years of professional experience in DevOps and CI/CD Automation Development
  • Proven expertise in setting up, maintaining, and evolving robust CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools such as Jenkins/GitLab for Continuous Integration and Ansible, Puppet, and/or OPSI for Infrastructure Provisioning and Continuous Deployment
  • Experience in the operation and design of Enterprise-level IT Infrastructure, with a strong focus on IaC principles, dynamic Provisioning, and Immutable Systems. This includes proficiency with the HashiCorp Toolstack (Terraform, Packer, Vault) and the drive to automate processes
  • Solid Multi-Distro Linux skills and expertise in Scripting/Programming languages (Python, Ansible, Groovy, Bash, C++ or similar). Experience with virtualization (Proxmox, KVM), container-based infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes), and storage solutions (Ceph, ZFS, Samba) is essential
  • Additional experience with full-stack Software Development and related technologies (Git, Nexus, Artifactory). Experience working within air-gapped and/or secrecy-ready IT environments (e.g., Data-Diodes, BSI Grundschutz, encryption) is a significant advantage
  • Excellent English proficiency (negotiation level) is required, coupled with a proactive, customer-oriented attitude
