Data Scientist (d/f/m)

You will join the "Digital Innovation Team", being part of Airbus Helicopters’ Transformation Department, which strives to develop technologies bridging the gap between research and business. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across Airbus Group and throughout all levels of our internal customers, whether they are manufacturing, quality, support, finance, engineering, HR or Marketing and Sales.

Our team aims at using the latest technological capabilities to solve Airbus Business problems or improve the way we design, produce and support our Helicopters and Services. That means that Advanced Analytics , Artificial Intelligence , Virtual Reality , Augmented Reality , Mixed Reality and Internet of Things are the technologies we leverage on a day to day basis - and more are about to come.

As part of the digital transformation of Airbus Helicopters, you will be working on the design of machine learning models to address various business issues, based on the latest scientific and technological advances in the field of data science. Depending on the progress of the project, you may be asked to contribute to a set of initiatives.

Your location

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the framing team to understand business needs, business value, and data characteristics (location, quality, structure)
  • Translate business needs into actionable solutions in a timely manner
  • Scope and take ownership of datasets
  • Build and train machine learning models
  • Evaluate, fine-tune, and challenge models against agreed objectives
  • Deploy the most suitable models
  • Document work clearly and systematically
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing
  • Industrialize developed machine learning solutions


Desired skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Data Science or an AI-related field
  • Experience in data science, including machine learning/deep learning methods and libraries, and natural language processing (LLM, RNN)
  • Two years of professional experience in data science and AI
  • Agile software development and project management
  • Practical experience with Palantir Foundry, TIBCO Spotfire, Red Hat OpenShift AI, SAP Business Warehouse, Jupyter Notebook, Google Workspace, SAP ERP, Python, PySpark would be a plus
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English (negotiation level); French is a plus.
  • Soft skills: rigorous, analytical, creative, dynamic and curious, team player, autonomous
  • Open to travel to Marignane to accompany AI projects when needed (approximately twice a month)
  • Motivation to work in a hybrid environment
