SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check)

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Infrequent travel up to 2 times a year for customer meeting/conference/training

LOCATION: Stevenage (60% of your working week must be office based)

TYPE: Full time, suitable for experienced analysts, early careers or STEM returner

Are you an experienced analyst or early careers analyst who enjoys working with AOCS/GNC? Research, Academia or Industry experience wanting to start or expand your career ? Interested in working with people who have 20+ years of AOCS/GNC experience? Then we might have the role for you!

As a AOCS/GNC Engineer (Attitude and Orbital Control System/Guidance, Navigation and Control) you will focus on Satellite projects and join a stable UK team of 25. The team is diverse, from many different counties, experience pools and would welcome someone who brings ideas to the table and holds their hand up with questions or spotting red flags. Your team also works alongside Rover teams.

The Head Of AOCS encourages and supports a work life balance throughout his team.

The career progression for this role is Management, Expert or Technical leadership

How you will Contribute to the team

  • Work on Projects like ARIEL , Vigil , Aeolus-2 , FORUM (and more) for ESA and the UK MOD
  • Accomplish AOCS/GNC design, implementation, verification and validation activities for mission’s Phases 0 to E (requirements gathering to Utilisation)
  • Produce relevant documentation (design justifications, software requirements for AOCS/GNC algorithms, performance analysis documentation etc.)
  • Develop software to a prototype level (non/real time simulator development under C/Matlab/Python).
  • Learn to support reviews and workshops with the customer / partners and stakeholders

About you

  • Professional or early careers experience with GNC/ AOCS for Space Applications.
  • Fascinated with learning more about GNC/AOCS by self directed learning, shadowing and using the team's knowledge and expertise including local experts who have over 20+ years of experience.
  • ONE of the following: Matlab (preferable), C, C++ or Python
  • ONE of the following: Modeling and simulating software: Simulink (preferable), Altair Activate, OpenModelica, Scilab/Xcos, Collimator or Pictorus and happy to learn and use Simulink on a daily basis
  • Builds positive working relationships and contributes to a respectful, collaborative team environment. Is comfortable providing and receiving feedback within a team environment
