Job Description

Role: Senior Manager – AI, Insurance Architecture

Location: London, Bath, Bristol, Hybrid

Mobility: Up to 100%

Career Level: Senior Manager (CL6)

Accenture is a leading global professional services company, providing a broad range of services in strategy and consulting, interactive, technology and operations, with digital capabilities across all of these services. With our thought leadership and culture of innovation, we apply industry expertise, diverse skill sets and next-generation technology to each business challenge.

We are recruiting for an experienced and dynamic technologist to join the Insurance Architecture team within Accenture’s UK Insurance & Financial Services Industry and Enterprise practice, helping to grow and develop our digital architecture capability.

“Across the globe, one thing is universally true of the people of Accenture: We care deeply about what we do and the impact we have with our clients and with the communities in which we work and live. It is personal to all of us.” – Julie Sweet, Accenture CEO

As a team:

Insurance Architecture is the dedicated digital architecture and technology team within Accenture’s UK Insurance & Financial Services Industry and Enterprise practice. We act as the “Office of the CTO” for our clients: a small, high-impact group of senior architects and technologists who shape and assure complex digital change for some of the UK’s leading insurers, life offices, wealth managers and platform providers.

Our work spans General Insurance, Life, Pensions & Investments, London Markets, Capital Markets and the wider Financial Services market, with rapidly growing focus on AI, GenAI and agentic solutions applied across the insurance and financial services value chain.

We organise ourselves around capability groups – covering Solution Architecture; Enterprise Architecture & System Design; ML, AI & GenAI; Data Architecture; Cyber Security; and Cloud & Infrastructure. These groups operate as craft circles: places where members deepen their expertise, share knowledge, develop our collective point of view, and back each other up on client engagements. Each of us develops depth in one or more areas while remaining versatile across the rest, so we can flex quickly onto client work with both depth and resilience.

We were recently recognised by the Financial Times as one of the UK’s leading Management Consultants in Insurance.

In our team you will drive:

  • The invention and provision of solutions to real-world problems across our Insurance and Financial Services clients, leveraging the latest technologies including GenAI and agentic AI.
  • Origination, growth and stewardship of deep client relationships with senior stakeholders – including CIOs, CTOs, CDOs and CISOs – bringing together the wider Accenture business (Industry and Enterprise, Technology, Song, Operations) to create differentiated offerings.
  • The shaping and delivery of complex digital architecture and technology engagements across a wide breadth of insurance and financial services clients.
  • Tangible, transformational change for clients, providing expert thought leadership gained from your deep technical and industry knowledge.

As a Senior Manager in our AI capability, you will:

  • Be a senior contributor to our ML, AI & GenAI capability – working alongside the broader Accenture AI & Data to shape, deliver and assure AI solutions for clients across Insurance and Financial Services.
  • Define and shape Agentic and AI powered solutions for our clients – covering predictive ML, GenAI, RAG patterns, agentic AI, and the supporting data and platform foundations – and lead the senior client conversations that bring them to life.
  • Lead client engagements that range from AI strategy and use-case prioritisation through to technical architecture, build oversight and responsible-AI assurance.
  • Originate and grow senior client relationships at CDO, CIO, CTO and Chief AI Officer level, partnering with Accenture’s wider AI capabilities and the Reinvention agenda to bring differentiated propositions to market.
  • Contribute to thought leadership on AI in financial services – through whitepapers, AI bootcamps, podcasts, conference talks and industry events – and help colleagues across Insurance Architecture develop their own AI fluency.
  • Mentor colleagues, support business development, and contribute to growing the AI capability within our team.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and share that knowledge with the team and the wider Accenture AI & Data community.

We are looking for experience in the following skills:

  • Significant experience delivering enterprise solutions within complex business and technology programmes, gained over 10+ years’ experience in technology roles.
  • A firm understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of ML, GenAI and Agentic technologies, ideally in a Financial Services and Insurance context.
  • Knowledge of the options, decisions and tradeoffs which need to be considered when creating agentic solutions and the design patterns typically used.
  • Understanding of the key features and capabilities of cloud-based AI platforms (e.g. Azure AI / OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI) and modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Knowledge of the considerations to take when deploying AI solution in a regulated environment.
  • A clear, working point of view on responsible AI – including model risk, bias, explainability, data leakage, prompt-injection risks and emerging regulatory expectations.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, comfortable converting complex AI concepts into compelling narratives for technical and executive audiences.
  • Experience contributing to proposals and the shaping of new propositions.
  • A genuine desire to improve outcomes for clients and consumers.

Set yourself apart:

  • Experience applying AI / GenAI within Financial Services or Insurance – ideally for Life, Pensions & Investments, Wealth, General Insurance, London Markets or Capital Markets clients.
  • Experience leading or contributing to enterprise AI / GenAI initiatives, AI Centres of Excellence, or model risk forums.
  • Working knowledge of MLOps / LLMOps tooling and the engineering practices needed to deploy AI safely at scale.
  • Awareness of AI safety, alignment and red-teaming practices.
  • Familiarity with at least one major industry platform in our sectors (e.g. FNZ, SS&C, Pershing, Guidewire, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) and how AI use cases land within them.

What’s in it for you

At Accenture, in addition to a competitive basic salary, you will also have an extensive benefits package which includes 30 days’ vacation per year, private medical insurance and 3 extra days’ leave per year for charitable work of your choice.

Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there will be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the services we are known for.
