Capital Projects Planning/Scheduling Manager

Location: London, Manchester, Glasgow

Career Level: (Accenture will be recruiting at the following levels: Consultant, Associate Manager.

In this role you will:

  • Serve as a technical expert in full project lifecycle planning & scheduling with good understanding of current and emerging industry methodologies and technologies.
  • Successfully manage and effectively leverage the cross-discipline relationships within the project controls functions for a project or programme and provide mentoring in areas of expertise.
  • Supervise, create, implement, and execute a top-down approach in respect of the strategy plans and schedules that support the project work processes, milestones and deadlines.
  • Liaising with project teams, contractors, site management and commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle to report on project progress, risks and contingency plans.
  • Supervise, baseline, gain approval, issue and implement network-logic-driven schedules that meet the time, cost and quality needs of, and are used by, the project team.
  • Update schedules with actual progress and forecast remaining durations and prepare and issue status reports and schedule analysis narratives that effectively communicate schedule status, identify critical path(s) and motivate the project team to define corrective actions to be used by business group management and project teams to manage the work.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor earned value systems that accurately measure progress and performance and provide timely reporting and feedback to project and business group management and that are appropriate to the project needs and the client requirements. Thoroughly understand earned value principles and methodologies.
  • Apply practical field experience with planning & scheduling knowledge to identify challenges to the project schedule and suggest mitigation plans.
  • Prepare schedule risk analysis to forecast schedule contingencies and related impacts.
  • Ensures full Change Management is applied to the programmes so that there is a clear audit trial of changes impacting the programme of works.

About you

  • Experience working as a Planner in a similar organisation / sector.
  • Experienced with Primavera (P6 at least to version 8.2) including resource allocation and expenditure tracking.
  • Trained in NEC3 Contract management with particular focus on planning requirements. Experience of working with NEC3 contracts.
  • Candidates will need construction industry experience and will likely have worked in the schedule or planning department at one or other of a client, contracting, or consulting engineering organisation.
  • Formal qualification in project / construction management or scheduling would be advantageous.
  • On-site construction experience would be beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Has worked in matrix style teams
  • Proficient and comfortable challenging information through project progress meetings.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office software – particularly Excel.
  • The successful candidate must embrace the organisations values and will have the following characteristics:
  • Work with responsible business group management, project/construction management, and project team to provide effective planning & scheduling controls.
  • Accountable to planning & scheduling management with matrix responsibility to project management team.
  • Establish relationships with applicable external entities such as clients, partners, and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership in the execution of planning & scheduling activities on projects
  • A systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to all aspects of the role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or related technical field or National Level NVQ5. Experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
