Buying Department

Location

Our London Head Office is based on Old Street, London's tech hub, home to a broad range of teams including Ecommerce, Tech & Product, Brand Engagement, Buying, Merchandising and People. Our open plan space is ideal for collaborative working and sharing ideals, or you can enjoy some quiet time in our dedicated library. We also have a large outdoor terrace which is the perfect spot to have a team lunch or host events. We also have homes in the form of our retail boutiques, Browns Brook Street in Mayfair, and Browns East in Shoreditch.

The Role

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for developing the strategy for Men's RTW Luxury and Designer, driving performance and contributing to growth vs company targets. The role will involve extensive travel to key markets in order to conduct the buy each season.

What you'll do

  • Accountability for managing OTB budget for buying remit, implementing strategies to drive the best return
  • Analysing business area on a weekly basis and identifying actions in order to achieve agreed targets to maximize margin and optimize sell through including in season trading
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure a co-operative approach is maintained at all times and negotiate best terms
  • Sourcing and supporting new talent and brands and building relationships with potential suppliers to ensure product is in line with the company buying strategy and promote newness and exclusivity
  • Maintain strong awareness of market trends and competitor activity in order to ensure uniqueness and newness on approach to Buying
  • Act as a support to the Buying Manager on ad hoc projects
  • Manage, coach and develop the team and oversee the recruitment of new hires

Who you are

  • Previous experience in a Buyer role within the luxury fashion industry
  • Proven commercial experience of trading in a fast paced and reactive environment
  • Experience in managing and coaching a small team
  • Ability to generate ideas and problem solve in relation to brand mix, product and projects and demonstrate excellent commercial awareness
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, work effectively under pressure
  • Proven relationship building skills in order to work effectively with suppliers and manage relationships with internal stakeholders
