Job Description

We are a team of 40+ and over the last four years, we’ve built a SaaS-enabled marketplace curated from 200+ of the best learning providers. So far, we’ve supported thousands of employees from fast-growing tech scale-ups and progressive businesses like GoCardless, IDEO, Curve, Treatwell and Freetrade to power their learning culture. This is just the beginning.

Our current tech stack is predominantly JS/TS based (React, GraphQL) and runs on mostly “serverless” AWS services (Lambda, Elastic Search, DynamoDB, Aurora, SQS, S3).

As part of our upcoming Series A, we’re looking for a people-oriented technology leader to take Learnerbly through the path from startup to scale up. We’ve spent the past few years shaping our product and are now in the position to optimise and scale all aspects of our business. This includes but is not limited to market expansions, building out the supplier side experience, and improving the discovery and personalisation of resources to our end users.

Responsibilities

Scale the Product

We need to integrate deeper with our partners to ensure smooth access to their learning resources. We plan to onboard hundreds of clients all over the world with complex learning needs. We will manage millions of pounds of learning budgets for them. You will need to spend time with our clients and partners to understand how to support them best.

Scale the team from 10 to 30+ in the next 2 years

Talent is rare, even in a remote-first world. You’ll need to attract, interview and onboard a significant number of Engineers.

Formalise roles and responsibilities

You will need to clarify career progression and performance as well as coach and mentor individual team members.

Introduce scalable development processes

Some rituals and processes are already in place but you will need to shape the Engineering cultures and values to ensure a predictable delivery pipeline of high-quality software.

Empower us

We are a tech company but not everyone is an engineer. You will need to guide the rest of the company to unlock the potential technology can offer and build bridges internally and externally to clients.

Partner with the CEO, CTO, CPO and other executives to shape the future direction of the company

We build this together. You will need to advise and guide the high-level business strategy from the Engineering point of view.

This role will be a great fit if you

✅  Think that learning and development in the workplace needs to be better

✅  Got hands-on experience in a high growth startup

✅  Have managed and grown managers

✅  Got an entrepreneurial and product mindset, you will need to understand how technology fits into the wider world

✅  Like to enable others to be their best selves

✅  Are an open-minded, humble self-starter

✅  Like B2B SaaS and marketplaces

These are ideal but not required as we know some people are less likely to apply for the role unless they are 100% qualified. We promote a diverse, inclusive and empowering culture at Learnerbly.

This role might not be for you if you

⚠️  Want to write code on a regular basis

⚠️  Don’t like to work with other business functions

⚠️  Need a lot of structures in place to get started

⚠️  Don’t want to deal with the day to day grind and chaos that comes with a startup

⚠️  Don’t want to go deep from time to time

Benefits

We’re passionate about learning and development and will do everything we can to maximise your personal and career growth.

You’ll also receive:

  • Flexible working environment and hours
  • Values-driven culture
  • £2,000 learning and well-being budget to spend each year
  • 25 days paid holiday + bank holidays
  • Healthcare cashback scheme available

Work environment

We are working 100% remotely until at least May 2021 and adapting quickly in the light of the current context. We are flexible and open to discussing remote working options within +/-1h GMT business hours.

In addition to our normal perks and benefits we’re supporting each other and maintaining our culture remotely through:

  • Meeting the whole team over a series of virtual cuppas as well as the Donut Slack integration for more social time
  • Onboarding buddy
  • Surprise letterbox gifts
  • Water-cooler Slack channels
  • A values-driven, open and inclusive environment

Our Values

We look for people who share our values and can add to our culture. Values are shared beliefs that guide our decision-making, and culture is how we function as a group and how we live our values as individuals.

  • Be your authentic self: For us, this means finding the intersection between what you love and what you’re good at, so you can be yourself at work.
  • Set the destination, own the journey: "Be the change you want to see in the world." Think big, speak up, take ownership. We believe in learning by experimenting and failing fast: use your creativity and resourcefulness to find solutions to problems you encounter.
  • Invite everyone to dance: “Diversity is being invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance.” We look for people who share our values and contribute to our culture. Diversity alone is not enough. We believe by being diverse and inclusive we make better decisions.
  • Practice heartfelt, radical candor: We know seeking radically candid feedback can be hugely powerful. We proactively seek and give feedback to reveal blindspots and accelerate growth.
