Job Description
Title: VP, Compliance
Team: Compliance
Reporting to: SVP, Compliance
Location: London
Who we are
When Volt launched in 2019, we recognised how open banking had the power to transform how businesses, whatever they happen to be, receive payments from their customers. So, we set about building an open payments gateway that enables merchants across the globe to receive direct, account-to-account payments - in real time.
Now, on the back of a record breaking $23.5 million series A funding round, we’re building an all-star team to achieve our goal of ‘real time payments, everywhere’
About the role
We're looking for a VP, Compliance to support our growing team. Volt has grown to a 100+ person strong organisation across multiple geographies and will be looking to scale to an even larger position in 2022 and beyond. The need to be compliant with domestic and international regulation has never been more important.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead and develop our global compliance function - growing our team of talented compliance professionals and ensuring our processes and systems scale with our business
- Work closely with Legal, Product and Engineering and other teams to enable delivery in key product and change initiatives, providing subject matter expertise both individually and through the Compliance team to guide the business
- Own, improve and expand our compliance framework and monitoring programme - ensuring an effective and efficient approach to maintaining compliance
- Lead regulatory applications for new licenses or changes to our existing arrangements
- Develop and maintain a relationship of trust with the FCA and other regulators, with proactive, transparent and timely engagement
- Identify and advise on upcoming new regulation or regulatory changes applicable to our business
- Develop and deliver compliance training
Your experience:
- You are highly skilled in compliance, with extensive experience gained from working in a senior compliance role in an FCA-regulated e-money institution.
- You most probably are currently working or previously worked as the head of compliance / deputy head of compliance in another financial institution - ideally a FinTech that is operating in a similar space
- You have a detailed understanding of regulation applicable to our business, such as PSD2, the Electronic Money Directive and their local implementations. You will have good knowledge of the FCA Handbook.
- You have deep understanding of the key regulatory challenges faced across the payments and e-money sector, including areas of supervisory focus and UK-EU divergence.
- You prioritise a practical approach to compliance and are skilled at translating requirements into efficient processes and communicate and collaborate effectively with impacted teams
- You are resourceful and self-starting; you have appetite for picking up areas of which you have limited past experience, learning and where needed recruiting expertise
- You have strong management skills; you are able to build and manage a team of compliance professionals
- A real team oriented attitude is key, we have an ‘anti-ego’ policy where no team member is more important than any other and we all chip in where necessary for the good of the team
- Positive and can-do attitude towards ever-changing priorities that are part of a start-up’s day-to-day.
- Whilst we are committed to compliance, we are also a fast growing business so you will need to be comfortable with a fast changing landscape from which to operate within and deal with customer complaints with regulatory components
