What you’ll do

The Vodafone Ventures team creates long term value for Vodafone by identifying and executing strategic business development opportunities via a range of joint ventures, strategic partnerships, targeted investments and acquisitions. Existing Ventures include Vodafone IoT, Vodafone’s satellite partnership with AST Spacemobile (including the ‘SatCo’ JV for Europe and responsibility for Vodafone’s direct investment in AST’s equity), Vodafone Iraq and Vodafone’s equity investments in Aduna, Cohere, Pairpoint and Utiq. The Ventures team works closely with the wider Vodafone Investments team, Vodafone’s strategic partners, and across commercial, operational and technology teams spanning all Vodafone geographies.

You will lead on the governance for our Ventures, supporting the Director of Ventures and other key stakeholders in all of their engagements with our Ventures. You will understand the challenges, opportunities and strategic goals of our Ventures and their relationship with our Strategic Partners, and will drive and co-ordinate the engagements with our Ventures across the Vodafone Group. You will establish, lead and operate the governance calendar, as well as internal steering, briefing and co-ordination forums. You’ll engage at a senior level internally and externally in support of delivering Vodafone’s strategic priorities.

  • Support the Ventures Director in the effective oversight and governance of existing Ventures, including establishing and operating a calendar of activities and following up operationally to drive forward agreed actions
  • Identify, develop and diligence new potential venture/partnership/investment opportunities
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to support both new and existing Ventures
  • Establish and operate a framework and governance for working with our Ventures that enables successful steering and oversight
  • Work closely with M&A, Strategy and Investments colleagues, supporting the Director of Ventures, to assess, negotiate and diligence future potential Ventures
  • Enable Ventures to build and maintain strong relationships across functions / at different management levels within Vodafone (up to ExCo level) as required, maintaining a single view of all interactions
  • Lead the co-ordination and briefing for the key stakeholder engagements with our Ventures.
  • Lead on Venture intelligence, critically assessing Venture strategies and challenges and any future opportunities they may create

Who you are

  • Experience in TMT (Telco, Media and Technology) space
  • Highly analytical and numerate, quick thinker, strategic mind-set, with ability to systematically break down complex problems
  • Excellent internal stakeholder management and engagement skills, from collaboration across the business to senior execs
  • Track record of operational excellence across complex matrix organisations
  • Strong communication skills, experience in coordinating project stakeholders and acting as a facilitator in key governance and decision meetings
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Resilient under pressure
  • Ideally 1st degree and/or MBA qualification, but not essential.
