About this Role

We are seeking a Supplier Cyber Security & Secure-by-Design Consultant to help embed security by design principles across Vodafone’s supplier ecosystem. This role is responsible for assessing cyber security and regulatory risks associated with third-party suppliers, ensuring compliance with UK Telecom Security regulations, and supporting secure sourcing and supplier engagement decisions. The role acts as a trusted technical advisor to business, technology and procurement stakeholders, helping Vodafone reduce supplier-related cyber risk while enabling secure business growth.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct security and compliance assessments of suppliers during sourcing, procurement and contracting activities
  • Evaluate supplier security posture against Vodafone security requirements and relevant regulatory obligations, including UK Telecom Security regulations
  • Identify, assess and document cyber security risks, compliance gaps, mitigations and security recommendations to support sourcing decisions
  • Engage with suppliers to understand and influence their security controls, compliance posture and risk management practices
  • Provide technical security expertise to internal stakeholders and support informed decision-making during supplier evaluations
  • Support contract negotiations by recommending appropriate security controls, contractual provisions and risk mitigation measures
  • Develop, operate and continuously improve secure-by-supplier processes, assessment methodologies, tools and reporting capabilities
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across technology, cyber security, procurement and business functions to validate security positions and risk decisions
  • Provide guidance to Vodafone teams and supplier organisations on security standards, compliance requirements and secure-by-design principles
  • Promote a positive security culture by demonstrating how security can support business objectives and act as a business differentiator

Who you are

  • 5+ years of professional experience in cyber security, information security or supplier security risk management
  • Experience evaluating supplier responses and assessing security risks within procurement, sourcing or pre-sales environments
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, traffic flows, network architecture and security best practices
  • Experience managing stakeholders across multiple organisational levels and functions
  • Strong technical understanding of cyber security domains including cloud security, web services, identity and access management, network security and vulnerability management
  • Knowledge of Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) security governance models
  • Experience communicating technical security risks and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with penetration testing concepts and supplier security assessment methodologies
  • Expertise across telecom technologies including switching, routing, mobile networks, radio access networks, firewalls, gateways, IoT devices and private mobile networks
  • Degree in Information Security or a related discipline
  • One or more recognised certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, GIAC, TOGAF, SABSA or equivalent
