About this Role

We are seeking an experienced SAP engineering design authority to drive design assurance, governance and engineering quality across one of Vodafone’s largest SAP platforms. This high‑impact role shapes how markets design applications, adopt clean‑core extensibility and deliver secure, scalable SAP ABAP and SAP BTP solutions at enterprise scale, while influencing engineering standards across multiple programmes and stakeholders.

What you will do

  • Lead frontend and application design direction for SAP development across ABAP and Advanced ABAP, including OO ABAP, Enhancements, BADIs, BAPIs, CDS, RAP, OData, AMDP, Workflows, Fiori/UI5 and SAP BTP services, aligned with Vodafone engineering standards.
  • Guide and mentor development teams on clean‑core extensibility, metadata‑driven UI approaches and S/4HANA ABAP best practices.
  • Design and deliver proof‑of‑concepts in ABAP and Fiori using new SAP features, establishing best practices through clear Confluence documentation.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for engineering queries across development teams, architects, security teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Review, challenge and improve solution designs produced by internal teams and delivery partners.
  • Validate application lifecycle compliance, including repository structures, branching strategies, CI/CD integration, testing approaches and deployment flows.
  • Guide teams on CAP services, Cloud Foundry architecture, OData API design, destinations, XSUAA models and secure communication patterns.
  • Support governance of a large, multi‑market Fiori Launchpad, ensuring consistency across catalogues, roles, tiles, spaces, pages and semantic objects.
  • Drive Fiori authorisation governance in collaboration with Security and RGC teams.
  • Support integration design across SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP services, OData APIs and authentication flows.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, reusable patterns, engineering standards and practical guidelines.

Who you are

  • An experienced SAP professional with extensive hands‑on expertise in ABAP and Advanced ABAP, including OO ABAP, Enhancements, BADIs, BAPIs, CDS, RAP, OData, AMDP, Workflows, Fiori/UI5 and SAP BTP services.
  • Proven in delivering end‑to‑end SAP implementation lifecycles within large, complex programmes.
  • Deeply knowledgeable in CDS, CAP, RAP, OData and clean‑core extensibility principles.
  • Strongly experienced with Fiori Elements, Fiori extensibility frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows and engineering quality gates.
  • Knowledgeable in Cloud Foundry application architecture and modern cloud design principles, with an understanding of contemporary UX and usability standards.
  • Confident in solution design, automation initiatives, proposal preparation and reviewing effort estimations.
  • Comfortable representing technical delivery in TDA calls, ITPM discussions, SPDA and security forums, and change‑management governance.
  • Experienced in delivery governance, proactive risk identification and mitigation.
  • Familiar with security and compliance considerations within SAP delivery environments.
  • Recognised for innovation, automation‑driven improvement and the ability to collaborate and influence senior stakeholders across business and IT.
