The Regional Finance Controller – APAC is accountable for delivering accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial accounting and reporting for the APAC region. This role leads a team of entity controllers and offshore accountants to ensure compliance with VGIAP principles, Group policies, and statutory requirements, while also acting as a key liaison with FP&A, Business Finance, and local leadership.

What you’ll do

Key Responsibilities


Financial Reporting & Control
• Lead the end-to-end accounting and reporting process for the APAC region, ensuring compliance with VGIAP principles and Group timelines.
• Oversee sub-processes from WD-1 to WD+5, including review and approval of accruals, deferrals, and ledger postings.
• Consolidate and analyse financial results, comparing actuals to budget, and deliver insightful commentary (e.g., Flash reports) to senior FinOps leadership.


Team Leadership & Development
• Manage and develop a team of 2 entity controllers and an offshore accounting team.
• Foster a high-performance culture aligned with Vodafone Spirit values.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, talent development, and engagement initiatives.


Stakeholder Engagement
• Proactively manage expectations and build strong relationships with FP&A, Business Finance, and local leadership teams.
• Serve as the FinOps single point of contact (SPOC) for ongoing projects and transformation initiatives.


Governance, Compliance & Audit
• Ensure robust SOX compliance, internal controls, and governance frameworks are in place and continuously improved.
• Lead the successful delivery of statutory audits with no outstanding issues.
• Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and a current Risks & Opportunities register.
• Support quarterly, half-yearly, and year-end certification processes.


Operational Excellence & Change Management
• Understand complex billing processes and their financial impact, working closely with technical teams.
• Collaborate with FDS and other stakeholders to ensure confidence in FinOps delivery and provide assurance and insights.
• Engage with product and finance teams to assess upstream changes and ensure downstream accounting impacts are well-managed and controlled.


Ad Hoc Support
• Provide analytical support and insights to the Senior Finance Operations Manager and Head of Finance Operations as needed.

Who you are

Ideal Profile
• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or other equivalent)
• Proven experience in regional finance leadership roles, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
• Experience with SOX, statutory audits, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is highly desirable.

Technical / Professional Expertise
Qualifications and Experience
 Fully Qualified (CIMA or equivalent) ideally with relevant business experience

 Customer service orientated

 Team player with positive attitude

 Detail conscious but able to take bigger picture view

 Experience in driving change and process re-engineering

 Ability to communicate with senior stakeholders. Understanding of IFRS; Strong Financial Accounting and analytical skills

 Experience in dealing with multiple complex demands from various areas of the business and various levels of seniority

 Ability to challenge the status-quo in a mature and sophisticated manner

 Appreciation of End-to-End processes implication (rather than just a functional view)

 Experience in fast-moving industries

 Advanced Excel skills
 Knowledge of SAP, Access, Business Objects and OLAP an advantage
