About this Role
We are seeking an experienced IP LAN Design Engineer to join our IP Engineering team and support the design, delivery, optimisation and quality assurance of IP LAN (Gi/Service LAN), Office LAN and Data Centre network environments across Vodafone European markets. This role is responsible for developing high and low-level network designs, leading implementation activities, driving network harmonisation and standardisation, and ensuring secure, reliable and scalable connectivity solutions aligned with central architecture standards. The successful candidate will work closely with local market stakeholders, operations, IT teams and engineering colleagues to deliver network transformation initiatives and continuous improvements.
What you’ll do
- Design, engineer and deliver IP LAN (Gi/Service LAN), Office LAN and Data Centre network solutions across Vodafone European markets.
- Develop High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low Level Designs (LLDs) aligned with central architecture guidelines.
- Lead network implementation, optimisation, testing and quality assurance activities.
- Design IP connectivity solutions based on business and customer requirements.
- Manage relationships with local stakeholders, operations teams, IT teams and engineering functions to support network delivery and operational excellence.
- Support implementation activities, special projects and critical operational situations.
- Drive optimisation initiatives across IP LAN, Office LAN and Data Centre environments.
- Execute regional engineering strategies and support country evolution plans.
- Own country-level IP LAN designs while defining reusable templates and standardised configuration models.
- Support network capacity, capability and utilisation planning to ensure services perform effectively.
- Coordinate change planning, scheduling and implementation activities in line with change management processes.
- Perform testing, audits and acceptance activities for deployed network solutions.
- Ensure effective handover of accepted solutions to Operations and Maintenance teams.
- Maintain accurate implementation, testing and quality assurance documentation.
- Drive network harmonisation, simplification and standardisation initiatives across European markets.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement across network environments.
Who you are
- University degree in Telecommunications or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in IP LAN, Office LAN and network engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of network design, architecture and engineering principles.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, protocols, network structures, hardware and network security.
- Experience configuring and deploying routers, switches, VPN gateways, firewalls, proxies and related technologies.
- Understanding of routing protocols, VoIP technologies, WLAN technologies, DHCP, DNS and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of network management, monitoring and performance analysis.
- Understanding of security concepts including authentication, authorisation, accounting, encryption, PKI, certificates and 802.1x.
- CCNA certification or equivalent networking expertise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working across cross-functional and multicultural environments.
- Project management experience with the ability to coordinate complex activities.
- Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on innovation and operational excellence.
