About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Global Internet Planning Engineer to support the planning, design, optimisation, and lifecycle management of Vodafone Group's global Internet network (AS1273). This role is ideal for a network professional with strong expertise in Internet capacity planning, Layer 3 network design, traffic analysis, and telecommunications infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with global stakeholders, transmission teams, engineering teams, and local operating companies to deliver resilient, scalable, and cost-effective network solutions while contributing to automation and continuous improvement initiatives

What you’ll do

•Monitor Internet network traffic demand and plan bandwidth upgrades to support business and customer requirements.
•Lead Internet capacity planning and network design activities for Vodafone Group Internet network (AS1273).
•Analyse network performance, prepare capacity reports and dashboards, identify traffic hotspots, and develop resilience plans to minimise service disruption.
•Collaborate with transmission and submarine capacity planning teams to design, deliver, and validate new network capacities.
•Develop pre-sales network solutions and assess customer traffic profiles to recommend appropriate Internet connectivity solutions.
•Deliver project planning, solution design, Bill of Quantity (BoQ), and Bill of Material (BoM) preparation for network expansion, device deployment, and infrastructure upgrades.
•Engage with local operating companies, partner networks, engineering teams, and stakeholders throughout the network design and delivery lifecycle.
•Support the implementation and configuration of global network nodes through established change management processes.
•Plan and deliver network hardware lifecycle management programmes, including equipment refresh, migration, and risk mitigation activities.
•Coordinate software upgrades and hardware modernisation initiatives to ensure network stability and vendor compliance.
•Produce Internet exchange resilience reporting and performance metrics for regulatory and business stakeholders.
•Design optimisation and customer migration solutions that support strategic network transformation and cost efficiencies.
•Review capacity requirements across interconnect platforms including DIAoMSP NNI, SISA, and B2B connectivity environments.
•Support annual bandwidth forecasting, business case preparation, and investment planning activities.
•Conduct traffic analysis for peering and content delivery networks using tools such as Deepfield to optimise network performance and identify growth opportunities.
•Support Internet cyber defence initiatives through traffic monitoring, analysis, and migration activities associated with network protection programmes.
•Contribute to automation initiatives, workflow simplification, and operational efficiency improvements.
•Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) activities for workflow and process enhancements.•Develop Power Apps and automation solutions for cost management, inventory management, and process optimisation.

Who you are

  • Engineering or Science graduate with relevant telecommunications or network engineering experience.
  • 7-8 years of experience in Global Internet Capacity Planning and Network Design.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 3 networking technologies and Internet infrastructure.
  • Experience working with Juniper and Cisco routing platforms.
  • Understanding of transmission networks, DWDM, OTN, and data centre connectivity environments.
  • Knowledge of network change management processes and governance frameworks.
  • Experience with inventory and workflow management platforms such as Cramer, MORI, or similar systems.
  • Ability to interpret network requirements and develop practical, scalable design solutions.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and attention to detail.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills with experience collaborating across multinational teams.
  • Experience in Power BI development and data visualisation.
  • Experience developing solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Knowledge of scripting and network automation technologies.
  • CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or equivalent networking certification is preferred.
  • OSS/BSS platform knowledge or relevant certifications, including Amdocs or Cramer, are advantageous.
