Role Purpose

• To plan, design, and Implement Fixed & Mobile GWs Networks according to Vodafone group guidelines and technology best practice.
• Handle advanced Implementation tasks including design and Configuration.
• Review Team configuration changes to ensure successful Implementation to network changes with minimum impact.
• Risk assessment for new Fixed network changes and interact with Technology change Management to discuss in weekly CAB
• Interact with Decision support team to Handle Fixed Networks Business Case.
• Drive the scaling of Vodafone IP/MPLS fixed network design for access, aggregation, and core layers to meet the demand of our customers.
• Provide designs and solutions for Vodafone domestic and international enterprise customers (daily designs, handovers & validations), bringing those designs from concept to production.
• VPOP new design and supporting critical migration issues (from old to current VPOP setup)
• Provide HLD and LLD documents for enterprise customers with various access solutions and media types including fibre, copper and wireless (EoSDH, GPON, ATM, EFM, Microwave, WiMAX and WIFI)
• Ensuring best design, interoperability and enhance Vodafone broadband network which include different vendors & different models within the vendor (i.e. Cisco ASR 9k, 1K, ASR920, GSR 12K, Catalyst Switches 2960,2960x.., ME 3400 & 3600, Huawei ATN 910I, ATN950B, Nokia BNG 7750SR)

Key Accountabilities & Decision Ownership

• Develop and implement new services, technologies, studies, and Mega projects in Vodafone network (i.e. IPv6, Small Cells, CGNAT, SDN, SDWAN, Super Wi-Fi, Nokia FWA, BNG changes to meet external security requirements, ADSL fraud cases, STUN routing, Enterprise Anti-DDOS, Enterprise SIP trunk, Amazon peering, EG-IX, WTTx ……).
• Network Enhancement, renovation, network nodes scaling, assessment and implementation to provide the best network availability and scalability (i.e. high-capacity cards study and implementations, new software versions to support new features, special customer requests like IPv4 & IPv6 full routing tables receiving…….).
• Select and test different new Hardware (Routers, Switches, etc.) and Software according for network modernization and to meet our customer’s requirements.
• Act as a reference point for presales, planning, implementation, and operation teams to offer smooth end to end service flow.
• Handle advanced technical Part in Fixed Network (RFI & RFQ) and risk assessment for new Fixed network changes and interact with Technology change Management to discuss in weekly CAB
• Make sure that, design of Fixed Network is meeting all Vodafone group guidelines and technology best practice.
• Review Network design (periodically or due to escalated complaints from operation teams), highlight issue and Implement Fixes.
• FNIs and lab testing for all network layers upgrades, new services, security guidelines.
• Handling Security Stream requests (Hardening and vulnerabilities – scan every 2 months); validating and evaluating requests, vendor consulting, lab testing and FNIs on all network layers (per vendor).
• Introduce innovative ideas and new products and services to enrich Vodafone wallet for enterprise & consumer business in cooperation with commercial team.
• Drive the E2E architecture for the new products and services for Vodafone Egypt’s Enterprise & Consumer business, and support in shortening its go to market time and beating the competition.
• Being up to date with the latest technologies in the fixed domain and keeping fixed transport networks team up to date with latest strategic trends in Enterprise Fixed domain.

Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience

• Experience in deployment, implementation and managing network devices such as Cisco, Juniper, Huawei & Nokia
• Preferred experience in F5 Load balancers configuration
• +5 years’ experience in IP technology and network field.
• Experience in HW specs ( Cisco, Juniper , Huawei , and NOKIA).
• Experience in IGWs Mobile, fixed and ON.
• Experience in data roaming gateways setup and GRX providers NNIs.
• Experience in GPON / XGPON setup ( HLD and LLD) technology.
• Familiarity with Different vendors syntax ( CISCO IOS, CISCO IOS-XR , JUNOS , NOKIA OS ).
• Experience in Designing ( HLD/LLD) over different networks (fixed, Mobile,…etc) and customers design.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant IP network Experience
• CCIE SP and/or CCIE R/S certified is highly recommended.
• Previous experience in Telecom nodes IP design.
