What you’ll do

This role focuses upon planning and communicating Vodafone Group’s news, messaging and updates to external stakeholders, principally this is aimed at tier one U.K. and international media, as well as trade and specialist publications and leading industry analyst firms.

Working within a small Plc head office team, the scope of communications is varied and broad-based, ranging from financial, strategic and corporate to technology, policy, purpose and reputation.

The role will work with a number of Group functions within the HQ as well as involve cross-working with the communications teams from Vodafone’s businesses around Europe and Africa, and so the nature of our work has a strong international feel.

The role typically reports to a Senior External Communications Manager.

Assists in the delivery of strong and compelling communications to enhance the external perception of Vodafone.

  • Creates content, drafts press releases and writes reports to support the external image of Vodafone.
  • Uses external communications best practice and knowledge to provide compelling content or reporting for the external communications function.
  • Understands and keeps up to date with current affairs and relevant content topics and ideas to participate in story creation and content creation having a positive impact on the external image of Vodafone.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and diplomacy skills, ability to persuade and influence wider key business stakeholders to maximise the reach and impact of initiatives and objectives.
  • Will join project groups to handle rolling issues and supports the provision of proactive and reactive communications.
  • Uses judgment to analyse and monitor the impact of communications. Ability to proactively identify improvements and confidence to suggest appropriate solutions.

Who you are

  • Good understanding of business, political and external environment. Ability to analyse, design, develop, and deliver of proactive external strategy, communications narrative, stakeholder mapping and campaigns to engage and influence external stakeholders to secure outcomes for company.
  • To assist with proactive external communications strategy and campaigns. Good understanding of the media landscape.
  • Several years’ experience in a fast-paced agency or in-house external communications team and strong experience in business communications.
