About this Role

We are seeking a Deputy Manager – Technical to play a critical role in Vodafone’s Atlassian Cloud transformation for Data & Analytics (D&A), with a strong focus on JIRA Cloud, CI/CD modernisation, and GitHub Actions–based delivery pipelines. This role is central to enabling the transition to Atlassian Cloud by driving a strategic, greenfield redesign of JIRA workflows, CI/CD frameworks, Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) controls, and evidence automation aligned to Atlassian Cloud capabilities and Vodafone’s enterprise standards. The focus is on establishing a modern, standardised, compliant, and sustainable target state that supports long-term scalability, auditability, and operational excellence. Operating under IT end-to-end ownership, the role contributes to implementing a defined target architecture aligned with Vodafone Germany IT standards, audit requirements, and executive leadership-approved boundary conditions.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and execute JIRA Cloud redesign activities using a greenfield approach, with workflows acting as the core enforcement mechanism for SOX change controls.
  • Configure and optimise JIRA issue types, workflows, permissions, and integrations in an audit-proof manner.
  • Drive CI/CD platform transformation, including migration from Jenkins-based pipelines to GitHub Actions.
  • Redesign pipelines using GitHub as the single source of truth and standardise reusable workflows and secrets management.
  • Lead Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)-integrated CI/CD migration activities ensuring end-to-end traceability across planning, code, build, test, and release stages.
  • Contribute to the redesign of SOX evidence automation using Confluence-centric models and pipeline-generated deployment evidence.
  • Collaborate with IT, D&A, DevOps, Testing, and Architecture teams to embed redesigned workflows into future development and operating standards.
  • Support ITIL-aligned incident resolution and service request fulfilment for tooling and CI/CD platforms.
  • Coordinate with security and network teams on access approvals, firewall rules, and connectivity requirements.
  • Produce design documentation, runbooks, control documentation, and audit-ready artefacts.

Who you are

  • Strong hands-on experience with JIRA Cloud and governance-critical workflow design.
  • Proven expertise in CI/CD transformation including Jenkins pipeline engineering and migration to GitHub Actions.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub repository management and enterprise CI/CD enablement.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise tooling standardisation and DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in ITIL-governed environments (Incident, Change, Problem Management).
  • Exposure to Unix/Linux environments, basic networking concepts, and firewall coordination.
  • Exposure to Ab Initio Co-operating System will be added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience in infrastructure and platform support.

What's in it for you

  • Opportunity to shape a greenfield JIRA Cloud target state designed for auditability, compliance, and long-term scalability.
  • Hands-on involvement in modernising CI/CD by migrating from Jenkins to GitHub Actions and standardising reusable workflows and secrets management.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with DevOps, Testing, Architecture, Security, Network, and Data & Analytics teams to embed new operating standards.
  • Exposure to governance-led delivery practices including SOX control enforcement and Confluence-centric evidence automation.

What skills you will learn

  • Advanced, governance-focused JIRA Cloud workflow and permissions design aligned to SOX change controls.
  • Enterprise-scale GitHub Actions patterns, including reusable workflow design and secrets management approaches.
  • Practical methods to implement end-to-end delivery traceability across planning, code, build, test, and release stages through ALM integration.
  • Stronger capability in producing audit-ready artefacts (runbooks, control documentation, and evidence models) within regulated environments.
