About this Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud & Data Centre Network Operations Engineer to ensure the availability, performance, and security of Vodafone’s global data centre and cloud network environments. Based in Pune, this role supports business-critical infrastructure across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, with a strong focus on Azure networking, data centre operations, incident management, service reliability, automation, and continuous improvement. The role operates within a 24x7 support model, including on-call responsibilities, and requires close collaboration with geographically distributed teams and technology partners.

What you’ll do

  • Provide 24x7 operational support (including on-call) for cloud and data centre network services, owning incidents through to resolution within agreed service levels.
  • Operate, administer, and support Azure networking services including Virtual Networks, subnets, User Defined Routes (UDRs), Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure DNS, Load Balancers, ExpressRoute, Site-to-Site VPN, and Point-to-Site VPN solutions.Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network incidents across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, minimising business impact and restoring services efficiently.
  • Escalate issues appropriately to internal specialist teams or external vendors when required, while maintaining ownership of incident progress and stakeholder communications.
  • Participate in major incident management processes and provide timely updates to customers, support teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous service improvement by identifying recurring issues, supporting root cause investigations, and implementing preventive actions.
  • Maintain and enhance operational documentation, runbooks, procedures, and knowledge repositories to improve service effectiveness.
  • Support monitoring optimisation through tools such as Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, and enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Identify and contribute to automation opportunities that reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and minimise human error.
  • Collect and analyse operational metrics to improve service quality, reliability, and customer experience.
  • Support network infrastructure including routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, and data centre network technologies.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in cloud networking, Azure networking, large-scale data centre operations, and network incident resolution.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Azure networking technologies including ExpressRoute, Site-to-Site VPN, Point-to-Site VPN, Load Balancers, Firewalls, Virtual Networks, DNS, and network security services.
  • Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures, secure connectivity models, routing, switching, and data centre technologies including Nexus platforms.
  • Proven troubleshooting and operational support experience across enterprise-grade routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and suppliers.
  • Understanding of Agile and DevOps ways of working.
  • Experience with automation, scripting (Python or Bash), and CI/CD practices is advantageous.
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced operational environment that requires sound judgement and effective decision-making.
