Data Governance Engineer (VOIS)

Job Description

Role Purpose:

As a Data Governance Engineer, you will play a key role in Digital Network Solutions and Insights team to support the Governance lead as a key point of contact for all topics relating to data quality, data governance and data privacy. You will drive data Standardization and consistency across markets in line with data privacy and security guidelines. You will interface with various Group and Local Market Privacy and Security, as well as Data Stewards and Owners to ensure and secure compliance & legal approvals for data feed transfers, use case/data processing assessments and approvals, and support new project Privacy Impact Assessments. You will be responsible for implementing and ensuring availability of E2E data journey in Vodafone’s data catalogue (Collibra). You will need to drive data quality improvement by leading the design and establishment of a data quality process and strategy for Vodafone and support aligning Vodafone Networks data sources towards a Common Information Model to harmonize data meanings and formats across different local markets.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

• Support Governance lead as a key point of contact for all topics relating to data quality, data governance and data privacy.
• Support our team to drive data quality and consistency improvement constantly.
• Support establishing an automated data quality process.
• Drive and maintain data security & privacy standards.
• Ensure compliance of all data transfers, analytics use cases and applications on Cloud are Privacy and Security compliant, liaising with both Local and Group Privacy and Security contacts, as well as with Data Stewards and Data Owners to achieve compliance and legal approvals.
• Embed a culture of data governance and data quality best practices into the engineering disciplines.
• Enable and deliver e2e data journey cataloguing through Vodafone’s Collibra deployment.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Knowledge of data governance models including roles and responsibilities, processes and metadata management.
• Candidate needs to have a passion for data privacy and have an understanding of data privacy legislation (GDPR) and personal data management best practices.
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks and various industry applicable data sources (e.g. passive probing, radio traces, OSS network elements, etc.) is mandatory.
• Experienced in data management techniques (i.e. data profiling, data cleansing, data duplication, etc.).
• Experienced in data quality management techniques (i.e. KPI definition, KPI monitoring, etc.).
• Experience using statistical programming languages and packages (Python, PySpark, SQL) and able to get hands on with examining and cleansing large and complex data sets.
• Data cataloguing experience (Collibra desirable. Google Data Catalogue a plus).
• Knowledge of Rest API integrations is desirable.

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Engineering or Computer Science graduate is mandatory, or equivalent hands on experience in data manipulation and management.
• Minimum 3-5 years hands on working experience
• Understanding of Telecommunications Networks and related data sources.
