About this Role
We are seeking a Network Operations & Transmission Monitoring Specialist to provide 24x7 operational support for network monitoring, incident management, carrier coordination, and service assurance across transmission and transport technologies. This role is based in Pune and is ideal for individuals with experience in network operations centres (NOC), transmission networks, alarm monitoring, and service restoration activities. The position plays a critical role in maintaining network availability, ensuring customer service continuity, meeting defined service level agreements, and coordinating effectively with internal teams and external carriers.
What you’ll do
- Monitor network alarms and alerts across multiple transmission technologies in a 24x7 operational environment.
- Raise, manage, and progress incident tickets through to appropriate resolution teams.
- Validate alerts using network management systems, databases, and planned network activity records.
- Perform initial troubleshooting and basic service impact assessments.
- Coordinate with carriers to raise faults, track progress, and ensure timely restoration of services.
- Escalate incidents in accordance with defined operational processes and escalation matrices.
- Provide dedicated monitoring support for hypercare and priority customer services.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly proactive health checks across network environments.
- Manage operational hotline calls and shared email queues on a best-effort basis.
- Support change management activities, including network change implementation and execution.
- Maintain adherence to established operational processes, service levels, and quality standards.
Contribute to service restoration planning and operational improvement activities
Who you are
- Experience in telecommunications operations with a sound understanding of transmission and transport network technologies.
- Strong knowledge of SDH/SONET, OTN, Ethernet, DWDM, optical fibre networks, and associated alarm management.
- Experience using Network Management Systems (NMS), Element Management Systems (EMS), monitoring tools, ticketing platforms, Citrix, and remote access technologies.
- Understanding of carrier management, incident handling, escalation processes, and service assurance practices.
- Working knowledge of IP networking concepts and network change management processes.
- Familiarity with testing equipment such as OTDR, RTU, and BERT.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Ability to work flexible shifts within a 24x7x365 operational environment.
